Given it's a major international airport, I would imagine they'll accept all major currencies (GBP, USD, Euro). I'll be going through myself in 4 weeks so I'll let you know for definate.

They will of course accept pounds as do all the Gulf airports. Web find however, that as the goods in the dury free are priced in both the local currency and US$, it is simpler for us to carry some dollars with us (including single bills!) for purchases, especially if our transit time is limited, and we're a bit jetlagged !!
