Thanks MM.......it gives me a good idea compared to a private transfer booked in advance though :tup

You'll probably be better off booking a private transfer hun.

We use http://www.algarve-365.com which is €30 each way Faro-Albufeira for up to 4 people.
It's run by an ex-pat couple, Pete and Donna - very professional set up and very reliable. :)

WARNING! BING BONG BING BONG

Next weekend 16 - 19 July is the annual Faro motorbike festival, gathering, call it what you will, when thousands of bikers descend upon the city for a big bash.

In previous years the parades along the roads have caused serious delays to traffic (we are talking an hour or more) so if you have an airport transfer booked, especially to go to the airport, you are strongly advised to ensure that your service provider has allowed for this.

Otherwise you may be sitting admiring the Harleys while your plane takes off without you.

Help!!!

I enquired about airport transfers and got a price I was happy with. I provided our flight details etc and heard nothing back. I then moved house and was without internet connection for several weeks. When I got it back on I e-mailed the provider again and again and again and NO RESPONSE!!!!

We now have 3 weeks till we land on the sunshine island and have no way of getting to the digs!!

Can anyone recommend a reputable - cheap and reliable company to do us a transfer? There are 5 of us going to Santa Luzia Tavira and return 2 weeks later.

Any help - much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Sha try http://www.bravotur.com send an email to stuart@bravotur.com, he will reply more or less straight way on his blackberry mobile and give you a price for your journey, very reliable. They are all private transfers and not shuttle (Shared) a little more expensive but worth it.Good Luck Or maybe Pete & Donna @ http://www.algarve-356.com can oblige you
Also just done a search and http://www.airport-transfers.co.uk are charging a return journey for £124.
Also http://www.faroairporttransfersto.com/tavira/ are doing a transfer for 55euros one way.Don't know whether these last two companies are private transfers. Lots of the shuttle transfer companies are now only taking bookings to named hotels & apartments & not private addresses ie Villas & privately owned apartments. Hope this helps & have an enjoyable holiday.

Just to let people know we used Algarve 365 for our return transfers faro-Praia de vau with no problems, the guy was waiting at the airport for us and the transfer only took about 50 minutes. Also booster seats/baby seats were provided. The return leg was fine aswell, All in all a very good service And will definately use again over new year.

Also the cost of this was 100euros for 4 people return And 120euros for upto 9 people return i believe. All drivers are english which helps as you can get a heads up on the area and all vehicles seemed brandnew. Like i said a very good service which we will use again..

Hope this helps someone out in the future :tup

I have just returned from my second holiday in Alvor.
We used Alan Sutton [url]INVALID URL for our transfer and I can highly recommend him. Our flight was twice delayed going in and yet the driver was waiting for us when we finally arrived. Coming home again there was a change to our expected flight time but it was no problem , our pick up time was rearranged.
Would definately use this company again.

Just returned from Albufeira, would recommend Algarve-365 for transfers, used them to the apartments and back to airport, no problems - private transfer in a spacious mini bus 30 euro.
Highly recommended.

Yet again Polotur provided an excellent service. Our driver was waiting at Faro despite our arrival being 15 minutes early and was at our hotel for the return journey 10 minutes early. As usual drivers on both trips were polite, friendly and helpful.
We're so confident in their service now that we don't bother any more to 'phone the day before our departure to confirm the return leg. A 5* transfer service in all respects !!

We took the gamble on Resort Hoppa booked through Travel Republic for our transfers to and from the Pateo Village in Albufeira. Cost was £24 for the two of us return which we thought was excellent value.

Waited about 20mins at the Resort Hoppa desk at Faro airport but were soon on our way with three other couples. One drop off in Vilamoura, one miles down a country road (sorry I can't remember the hotel), one at a hotel near Modelo and then it was us. Typically last, took about 45mins from leaving Faro airport. Good service, driver attentive and kept to the speed limits.

On our return we were first pick up (no surprise) at 6.20am (to catch a 10.15am flight!!!) and after picking another two couples up (one in Old Town, the other near the Strip) we stopped off and were told that we were being picked up to travel by a coach with others. Not a bad system admittedly to get all the minibuses to deliver to one point for a coach, but it would have been nice to be told this was happening. Waited 10mins for the coach to arrive, and then continued on the journey until we got just outside Albufeira where the coach pulled into a bus stop and waited. We thought minibuses were being used again but it was just slow passengers from a hotel across the road and after 10mins again we were on our way. Got to Faro at 7.50am, 25mins before check in opened but a total of 90mins from being picked up.

Overall, cheap and cheerful. Some communication would have been nice first thing on our return to mention the drop off and getting on a coach but that aside, it was pretty much faultless if a little slow. On our arrival transfer if we hadn't have been on the same minibus as the couple who stayed at a hotel which seemed miles down a country road, we would have knocked 10mins off the 45min journey time from leaving Faro to the Pateo Village.

Is it best to pre-book a private transfer or can taxis be easily gotten at the airport? Which is the cheapest option!
Reply
A pre-booked transfer is very much cheaper than a taxi for anything but a very short run eg into Faro itself.

There are always taxis at the airport and they would bite off your hand for a 45 Euro job to Albufeira.

A pre-booked transfer can be as little as 10 or 12 Euros, but the less you pay the more people you share with and possibly the journey is much longer.

Read back through previous posts to see typical prices and recommendations.

Hi thanks, I've seen some good deals on here and 4 of us will be sharing to Praia da rocha so I think were looking at maybe £25 each for a return taxi which isn't bad at all! Is there any buses that go?
Reply
There are no direct buses between Faro and Praia da Rocha, so the £25 journey you mention is the way to go.

From the airport to Praia da Rocha by bus means taking three buses and maybe two hours journey.

Hi
I was hoping someone can give me some info. I have never been to Portugal. We are coming as a group and staying in Monte Gordo. We have athletes that are training at the Villa Real Stadium. I was hoping someone could tell me how much a taxi would cost between the two?
Thanks
