I would assume that you received a voucher of some kind to present when you collected the vehicle that covered the pre paid part. Did you receive an invoice for the additional charges for the upgrade and what does it say?

There is an obvious problem as you will have dealt with a local franchise of the company. If the UK office have to contact them about this a week is not very long for them to investigate.

I would suggest you advise your CC supplier and explain the problem to them. Ask them if they will put the charge into dispute. Whilst that does not resolve your problem they will with hold payment from the branch who have made the charge.

How did you complain to Alhamo UK? - I would suggest you write to them setting out the details. Tell them you have asked the CC supplier to put the sum in dispute and request they investigate and reply ASAP. Your letter should be sent recorded delivery/signed for this will enable you to track it online and prove delivery.

There is no reason why you should not contact the local consumer department and advise them of this, indeed by doing so you will assist others who may be put in the same position.

When complaining about overcharges email and telephone are not the best way of doing so.
