Have spent a couple of Christmasses on the Algarve. No guarantees regarding the weather at this time of year - one year we had seven rainy days, but the next time we went we managed a couple of days on the beach sunbathing ( locals will look at you as if you're crazy, though !!) Most things close for Christmas Day as it's a family time for the Portuguese, but there are places that cater for Christmas dinner; best to research and book beforehand.Boxing Day is not an official holiday in Portugal so things are more or less back to normal with most places open. Bear in mind, however, that some businesses close down completely at this time of year and take their own holidays.
Thank you Sagres 4 that information. Looks like back to Canaries lol.
