All the main building work is finished. They were putting finishing touches to High Ropes course, Kids Splash pool and outdoor stage. There were diggers and cement mixers at the very back of the hotel but we didn't feel they were a nuisance / noisy.
Did you have a pool view or was you at the back of the hotel ?
Our room was one of the 2 bed apartments in the existing Aliathon part not the fishing village. It had a view of the Lagoon Pool not the new one but it was spacious and clean.
Did you use the kids clubs ?
Yes my son did every morning session (10.00 to 12.00) only one of the afternoon sessions and 3 of the evening sessions (9.00 to 11.00). He loved his "holiday school" and the staff were great. FYI the creche (under 3s) is not part of AI.
What type of room did you stay in ?
see above
Discount Card:-
This gives you 15% off Bars and 10% off Restaurants in the larger complex but we didn't try any.
Hi mandalay, good to hear you had a good time. I was just wondering if the kids splash pool has the slides etc, and did you find hv cyprus as good or better than turkey? I have a 5 yr old little girl, was there plenty for the kids? Was there a good selection of food for the kids at the restaurant and snack bars?
Williams when do you fly out.
Hi Ellsbells, Fly out at 7.00am 30th July from Cardiff, How about you? What type room are you staying in? I have booked a superior and I think they are in the old part I hope the old part is Ok. Are you organised re the wedding?
We fly out from Manchester at 3pm on the 27th July 10 weeks today . We are in a 1 bedroom deluxe, the rooms in the old part of the complex are surposed to be huge with balconys the size of a football pitch knowing my luck we will be put in the new part with little box rooms ha ha. All wedding plans are nearly done going to see the solicitor next week.
i want a big ass balcony too paying 200 more for delux room
Have to wait and see stumpy when do you go ? Wish they would give us some pictures so we can see for ourselves what its like.
Mandalay - Was the spa open ? Im going for my 40th birthday and was looking forward to a pamper ?
Kids Splash Pool - it was hard to judge how much water there was going to be - it was not a swimming pool (like in turkey for those who have been). There was a pirate ship with slides, a crows nest type thing and 3 big circles that I guess will spray water onto the kids. There is a separate playgound with swings, slides, see-saw etc right next to the Kids Club building. My little boy loved the kids club and the Kids show in the evening (songs a bit repetitive but he didn't mind). He also did the swimming lessons with a lovely girl called Vicky. He was only one in the class so well worth the money (E36 for 5 lessons).
Food - there was always a kids corner in the main restaurant for lunch & dinner - fishfingers, smilies, pizza, burgers, mash potato, chicken nuggets etc and always a good selection of salads. We never went hungry !!
Didn't really see snack bars (not the same as in Turkey anyway) but that maybe because there were not enough people. You could always get drinks at the pool bars though.
Rooms - wish I could tell you more about the new rooms. All had balconies/terraces with table and chairs - some looked quite big. Met someone staying in a deluxe room and she said it was huge. Her only problem was that it was on the first floor and she had to carry her little boys buggy up the stairs at least 3 or 4 times a day.
Spa - no this was not open - didn't even see where it will be.
Thank you for updating everyone I'm sure it will put many peoples minds at rest !
we dont fly out until 24th aug sadly
Hiya - could you tell me if there is an indoor games room for the kids - pool table, arcade games etc - my little boy loved the one in Turkey and would meet all his friends in there. Do you know how far the hotel is from the water park?
what was the daytime & evening entertainment programme like ???
& does the hotel provide towels around the pool ??
what drinks are included on the all inclusive package ??
dont suppose u know if there is a dry cleaning service and the prices ??
Thanks !
There was an outdoor area in the old part of the hotel - but it had a very old looking pool table, a table-tennis table (broken net) and about 6 arcade games.
I think First Choice do a "Wavelength" club for 9-15yrs in the evening but not sure as didn't apply to us!
Do you know how far the hotel is from the water park? Very close - you will see it from the transfer bus.
what was the daytime & evening entertainment programme like ???
Daytime - usual HV stuff for the adults - Quiz at pool bar at 12.30, water polo, archery, circus skills
Evening - Kids show 8-8.30, then bingo then a quiz then a show
Does the hotel provide towels around the pool ??
Yes you get a towel voucher per person which you can swap for a big blue towel and then swap a dirty/wet towel for a dry one any time you want.
what drinks are included on the all inclusive package ??
All soft drinks and what they call "local" spirits - I can vouch for the wine and beer (called KEO) and rum (white and dark). Remember AI finishes at 12 noon on last day
Dont suppose u know if there is a dry cleaning service and the prices ??
There is a laundry service but I don't know cost. We had iron and ironing board in our apartment.
any pictures mandalay and did you spot a kfc near by (sad)
Thanks mandalay for the feedback, I dont actually go until the very end of July so I am thinking they have still got time to finish these things. As I am getting married there did you see any weddings taking place, or a gazebo for the event?
