Percy that's where we're staying - Hotel Lorenzo. Any info would be useful - price of a meal out, a pint & a short - anything that' s a must see or do etc. We don't tend to do much in the day - just relax around the pool or beach with maybe a short walk for a lunchtime snack. We prefer to walk in the evenings when it's cooler. We usually like to eat out around 7.30 to eight, then just stroll around, popping into tavernas. We're in our early 50's so aren't really looking for hectic nightlife.
Go into Argostoli in the day and have a look for the turtle in the sea near the market, take a ferry over to lixuori at night for a meal. myrtos and Assos are worth a visit, if you dont want to hire a car then you can book trips.
helen, think you have made a good choice with hotel.very clean, friendly, lovely pool area.we were b/b continental breakfast, nice to eat on terrace outside reception.location good, only a minute to lassi main strip.i think it was about 6 euro for beer & baileys.we had all main meals out, average about 35 euro for both including couple of beers and glass of wine. will agree with iallen, went to argostoli a few times and saw turtles in harbour, about midday.had a couple of trips on ferry to lixouri, well worth it at 2 euro each we also booked the island tour,a good day out on the coach,if a bit tiring.we used a small beach near hotel, called antonios beach,it was very clean when we were there, water clear and very safe for bathing not much seaweed about.there is a beach bar selling drinks and snacks.two beds and brolly 6 euro, eight euro by the end of holiday.beach is out of hotel, left down lane about 200 yds on the right,it is signposted.should add we had a very good night at oscars, plenty of greek dancing which you can join in,also good food.had taxi but you can walk it,when you have had enough they will call a cab to take you back to wherever.there is no hectic nightlife,we are wrong side of 60,didn't have enough bars just to sit for a drink, mostly geared up for meals.we like to have a stroll in between drinks trying different places.that's what i meant when i said it went a bit quiet later on.i am sure you will enjoy yourselves, such a beautiful island, very relaxed.also if you want english breakfast occasionally plenty of scope on the main road of lassi. regards percy.
Thanks both for your replies. It sounds very similar to Kamari in Santorini, where nightlife was mainly restaurant based with a sprinkling of bars. I'll suit us fine.
I was in kamari last June, off to Parga this June and Cyprus in September
did you think they were similar resorts as regards a night time. We've been to Stalis, Kamari, Kos Town, Khardamena, Argassi & Laganas - loved every one of them, although very different. This year we're trying Morocco for a week at Easter & then a fortnight at the Lorenzo in Lassi in August. Prices seem a little steep, so perhaps we'll have a few more drinks on the balcony than we usually do.
I would say kamari had a lot more restaurants and bars than lassi. i didnt think the main strip in lassi had much atmosphere really, but the beaches are pure sand and gorgeous, on a whole i prefered kafelonia than Santorini, we stayed at the San lorenzo village in lassi. The best two restaurants in lassi were in my opinion nefeli and De veronicas, also just off the square in Argostoli there was a superb one called mythos. We all like different things so some people may disagree with my views and vice versa, holidays are what i live for
If we decided to go to any of the other resorts for a change in the evening, is there any sort of bus service - or would it be a taxi job. Sorry if it's a daft question, but I'm only just starting to do some more in depth research.
you can get to argostoli and Lixouri easy but the other resorts are too far for a night out, but buses do run to say skala in the daytime
you can get to argostoli and Lixouri easy
so are there buses running here, or would it have to be a trip or taxi?
Buses run to argostoli

Hi M - Unfortunately as both of us work in a school we have to pay top prices - we are off the 1st week of August.
I went to Skala last year as you probably remember!
Agree with Margaret that the trips are well worth doing and I just know you will appreciate the Robbola winery ( I went twice!!)Assos is very pretty and Fiscardo very chic!

I know what you mean about having to go in school hols and paying top price. I also work in school, but last year they had to honour my hols in June This year no such luck
Looking to go May hols as the school closes for 2 weeks. Now all I need is someone to look after my dear old dog . Sorry gone a bit off topic
Have a great time when you go
M
