It's a small world - hubby was at the local cricket club yesterday & got tlking to some regulars. It turns out they're going to Lassi & will be there for our 2nd week. They're going HB though & we're B & B - no doubt we'll run into them at some point.

I used the cash machine in Lassi last year a couple of times (ref your first post, Helen). There was no cash in it on one occasion, so took a walk down to Argostoli, and had a stroll aound and a couple of drinks whilst there.

Phoebe - if I take travellers cheques, will I be able to change them in Lassi?

Helen, there's a well-stocked local supermarket called Dolphin in Lassi (also has a post box outside it) and this is at the Argostoli end. It has a website that says it does change cheques. I didn't take any, so didn't really notice any signs. Here's the website

Thanks for the link Phoebe - that looks like a well stocked supermarket. I beliieve it's close to us at the Lorenzo hotel. I'm getting slightly worried now. I don't want to take loads of cash with me, but neither do I want to be going in to Argostoli every couple of days to get money. It does say there's a bureau de change - just hope the rate is ok, if it's the only one in town.

helen, when we were there last year,we actually got the best rate at the lorenzo reception.ask them the rate, then you can compare whils't out and about.also they were commission free, whereas the outlets in lassi charged commission.

Brilliant Percy - that's put my mind at ease. The way it's going, I think things will be expensive enough as it is.

I was also going to suggesst that more than likely you'd be able to change your TCs at the hotel.

Does anyone know if they play music round the pool at the Lorenzo?

We didn't stay at this hotel when we were in Lassi 3 years ago, but we were able to use their pool facilities.
I can't say I heard loud music by the pool, but on speaking to people staying there,
we were told it was quite a noisy hotel in respect of people slamming doors,
and music coming from the bar till late. The couple we spoke to had demanded a room on the top floor,
as they were above the bar, and couldn't sleep.
Hope it's changed a bit since then.

Helen,we were there last year, although we are no 'spring chickens' we lassi a bit quiet.plenty of tavernas geared up for meals, but we only want one a night.could have done with a few more places just to have a drink and chat later in the night.back to your question,we used beach, only went by pool on way back for a snack,i am sure there was music but not loud.we had a few drinks in hotel bar, most times between midnight and 01.00 we were the only customers in,only background music playing.

Thanks both - Pandy- I hope we don't have a room above the bar, as I get trouble sleeping anyway. I have e mailed them and asked for a 2nd floor room, but haven't had an answer. Percy - we quite like a bit of music round the pool in the day as long as it's not that "boom booming stuff". It sounds like a similar resort to Kamari in Santorini. There were lots of places to eat there, but just a few bars. I think we're going to change our routine a bit this year - have a drink or two on the balcony before going out and eating a bit later, so we should be fine.

Just back from 2 totally chilled weeks in Lassi Kefalonia. While there we also visited Argostoli, Sami & Lixouri. Thanks to all who helped answer my questions before hand. If I can be of any help to anyone going later in the season, or considering Kefalonia as a destination for next year, then I'd be glad to help answer any questions that you may have.

Glad you had a good holiday Helen :tup
I've just been reading someone's report about the prices in Olu-Deniz Turkey,
and have been informed it's now more expensive than Lassi!!!

I'm a bit gutted as we chose to go to Turkey this year instead of Kefalonia, as we thought our spending money
would go further :que
Kefalonia next year, definitely!!!!

pandy - it's my sister's report you've been reading about prices in Olu Deinz, and we've spent a bit of time comparing prices, and Lassi came out as the best.

Looking for a week in Lassi, October 10-17th (ish) for myself and my 10 year old Grand-son

Do you think I can find anything?? Quite annoyed, as I googled cheap holidays Kefalonia,
and loads came up, but as soon as you put in your details, i.e. flying from, what date e.t.c.
they all say 'nothing available'. :cry
I'll give teletext a ring on Monday. They always come up trumps. I'm determined to get
my Kefalonia fix this year :tup

Hi
Olympic have come up with a few quite reasonable deals - one only 500 metres from centre and 50 metres from beach for £465ish for the 2 of you from Manchester. Is that the sort of price you were looking for or a bit cheaper?? Day flights as well. Sounds like quite a good deal to me. :think :tup
