Hi Mike
I don't know you but from what I've read about your experiences, I think you've been pretty poorly treated all along the way.
To be refused a visa is one thing, but to be given one and then still refused entry on arriving in the country is just beyond my powers of comprehension.
Regards
Hopefully we will see you in December and things get sorted out, it is a nightmare, I'm afraid I would have given up by now. I don't think you have said anything that others haven't also said so don't see how it could be anything to do with that. Would be nice to know their reasoning behind it all though but saying that neither you or us will ever find out the real reason if there is one.
Brenliz and PPC that means alot to me thanks
Hopefully, you will be swimming with monkeys again before you know it, Mike!!!!!!
Exactly and that's what our holidays are all about, enjoyment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Hapi was referring to any media not just HT type forums when he suggested keeping a low profile. I'm sure he's right ! India is, and they are not alone, paranoid about terrorism. I'm sure they have the resources to monitor the internet, mobile phones etc just as we do. They might just pick up on certain comments and decide that they can do without those views in their country.
There has to be something that Mike has done that causes them to refuse him entry ...hasn't there ?
Mike, If I have appeared unsympathetic you have misread my comments.
I think that anyone who voices strong opinions in local media will draw attention to themselves and may well be subject to extra interest from the appropriate authorities. I was also suggesting that a rant on HT wasn't exactly what I had in mind as drawing attention to yourself but you never know.
The last line of my quote was a rhetorical question that intended to carry a certain amount of disbelief. I too have folllowed your situation and find it more than strange that they have taken a stand over letting you back in when all the documentation is in order.
I also know that your input into HT is greatly valued by us all, not just on the internet but on the ground in Goa with the meets and the footy.
I wish you well in your attempts to clear this up. Best of luck Dave.
Hope to see you in Goa soon Mike. I'm sick for you
Mike, I hope it can be all sorted out and you are back in Goa soon. Fingers crossed for you.
hope you get everything sorted out soon mike,we all look forward to seeing you this season
I can't believe what has happened to you- shocking. To be granted the visa and turned away not once but twice, there is no excuse. Unfortunately I also think that a solicitor will get nowhere. I can't imagine how you felt when you were turned away. Really sorry for you.
Dave i am only stating what has happened nothing against anyone !!!!!!!!!!!! anyway that's what happened and i can't change things i just want to get back and enjoy my retirement and my travelling.
Mike
Could you return to Goa if you left UK on the 59th day arriving into Goa early hours of the 60th day? does this make sence?
No it clearly states of a gap of at least 2 months between visits that is over 60 days and as some months are 31 days it could really be 62 days if it was say July and August for example best to err on the side of caution.
Is it a 60 day rule , or a 2months rule ?
http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/news.html
If it were me I'd make sure that there could be NO confusion whatsoever about dates.
going back 15/4/2010 is 2 months but only 60 days, as against 31 day calendar months?? I am confusing myself now.
I was only thinking of going back on the last charter flight and booking very last minute, so I will give the embassy a ring, see if they know lol
I agree, it's a very confusing issue, but if I were you I'd put the '60 day' right out of your mind and concentrate on the '2 month' as that is how it is referred to on the VFS website.
When you say 'going back 15/4/2011' is that the date you actually arrive in Goa?
I mean, if the flight you're thinking about leaves the UK after say 10am in the morning on 15/4, with the 10 hour flight time plus the 5.5 hours (you need to think about how GMT & BST affects the time difference in April), it will be the following day (16/4) that you arrive in India.
Does that make sense?
Rather than ringing the Embassy, why not email VFS and ask that direct question.
I emailed them with this:
I fly out of Goa on Sunday 12th December 2010 and am planning to return, landing in Goa on Sunday 13th February 2011.
Can you please confirm that these dates conform to the 2 month rule and that I will be allowed entry into the country."
and got this reply very quickly:
Please note that there should be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to India on a Tourist Visa. This ruling applies to short term Tourist visas i.e. 6 Months and 1 year and does not apply to any other visa category.
In view of the above provisions, if you are granted with a multiple entry Tourist visa which is valid till your next travel then you can re-enter India as per the dates specified by you.
Hope this helps.
Hi preetypollycat thanks for that info I have just emailed them. Flight would leave 17.30 on the 15/4 so would get there early on the 16th only India could make it this complicated
Mike im really sorry to read this please God it will get sorted and you will be back in Goa real soon ..TELL you what it will not be the same unless we get to see you there ..J &J
