how lucky are you?! i have stayed in these appartment twice and my parents about 4times. where the main reception bit is, there are hundreds of appartments there with the pool etc but around the back of the main arcos playa is 6appartments which we stayed in once. we found the rooms to be very spacious and clean, bedding and towels changed when needed (hang dirty towels over the bath and they change them) and maids came in everyday to brush and mop up. the owner, margharita (i think) was very kind and helpful. the room we had had an open living room/kitchenette thing with kettle, toaster, mini hob, table and chairs etc and a long typical spanish bed/sofa with a pull out bed underneath. then in the first room was 2beds and a little bedside table between them and a large wardrobe at the bottom of beds. i think the wardrobes had coathangers and deffo had extra blankets. the bathroom was quite large and had a bath/shower toilet and sink. all tiled, looked really nice and clean. then the other bedroom was pretty similar but seemed bigger because of the layout. still it was really good. we have been to sa coma and s'illot loads of times bfore and we got the number of the arcos private apartments to book again in the future. the only scary thing was one year we went we were in the seperate apartments when there was a thunder storm. although it was fantastic to watch the lightening my little cousin kept wanting to hold and sit on the metal rail thing on the balcony! and another time when the maid was using the bath/shower to fill up the bucket to mop a newt came up the plug hole! i screamed and made sure the plug was in bfore i stepped in! other than that we've all only got brilliant memories of staying there and will probably go back again! have a nice time , xxshellxx

Please please help. Someone, anyone been to the Arcos Playa this year with some decent reviews? All I'm getting is horror stories.

Just read another which someone had said they needed pulled down and rebuilt :(

Its not the kind of thing I want to read before going away. I have saved all year for this holiday and was really looking forward to it. :(

Sorry, Ive never stayed there, but dont be too despondent, although everyone posts on here to help each other, sometimes peoples perceptions are completely different.

I hope someone comes on here and says something poistive, but all you can do in the meantime is go and enjoy yourself no matter what. I have read so many times on here that people went dreading what they would find, and it turned out to be fantastic.

Hope it works out for you :D

Oh I can't believe I've finally read an excellent review on these apartments - most of the one's I've read were really putting me off and I was getting nervous but this has really helped!! 2 and a half weeks to go - can't wait now!!

I ended up in these apartments in 2002 and changed immediately. Accomodation was appalling, i.e. Floors greasy, rusty appliances, holes in the ceiling plugged with carrier bags, signs everywhere telling people to make sure their windows and doors were locked - yet when we arrived at 2am the window in the bathroom was open, but was hidden by the shower curtain etc
We managed to get a move to another accomodation but in Magaluf, we had to make our own way to it. The new accomodation was a 18-30s type accomodation and seemed like a palace in comparison!

I just hope that standards have improved since 2002!!

Just when I thought it was sounding better!! How easy is it to change - do you have to pay extra?? Would I be better doing it now before I go just to be on the safe side? HELP!! Leaving 6th August!

If you change when you are in resort you run the risk of being told there is no room at other accomodations, you are travelling in peak season (we were there in August aswell, we did an Allocated on Arrival deal and there was just the two of us. Considering it was peak season I was very surprised that we were allocated a 2 bed apartment, but we soon realised why!). If they move you to an accomodation of a higher rating (this accomodation's official rating is 1*) then you will have to pay extra. You will also have to pay an admin fee to the rep to be able to move and will have to make your own way to the new accomodation, so if it's on the other side of the island, that's either a large taxi fare or a long bus journey. We were lucky as we were sat on our suitcases waiting for a bus and a passing rep took pity on us and let us go on her coach (after she begged the driver) to the airport, so we had to make our own way from there. Therefore it would be easier to change before you go.
I must stress again that I went in 2002, so it could have been refurbed or anything since then (though I remember seeing it in the Sun once in their Holidays from Hell column). How recent are the bad reviews that you are reading?

Thanks for the info! The reviews are round about that same time, 2002, I'm just thinking has it got worse of have they cleaned up their act!

If anyone has been the the arcos playa apartments more recently please let me know if there are any good points about it!!

Thanks, Angela

Angela I've found some reviews on http://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk from this year and last year. Although the resort gets good reviews, the accomodation doesn't. Might be worth checking out.

 The first one could've been written by us (apart from they stayed 4 days!)

Yeah, I've read them - I'm not worried at all about the resort - it's quiet and family orientated which is what we're looking for. The problem is the accommodation only - but some of those reviews say its wonderful then the next say its dreadful - maybe it depends on each individual taste! Thanks for your help!

 Had another wee read at them!! HELP!!

If you want my truly honest brutal opinion..........

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole and would change immediately. Not only will you not run the risk of ending up writing a review like the others, you wont spend the time between now and your holiday dreading it.

I'm gonna talk to the hubby tonight, we're also going with another couple - both the men say they don't care but you know what us ladies are like - a bit fussier then them!! :?

Thanks for all your help, I'll let you know how it goes anyway!

I've decided that I'm not going to let anything put me off the Arcos Playa anymore. So what if they are a bit shabby, its what you make of it. We are going to be eating out most evenings so as long as they have beds and a shower I dont care.

I will have a brill holiday no matter what :D

Hope you have a good time Hoochy - at least you are prewarned and prepared - maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised (if they've refurbed).

Yes, me too! Everytime I mention anything to the hubby he tells me I'm spoiling it before we even get there, so I'm saying nothing more. Just hope I don't get there and say "I told you so"!
