I am so pleased to read that its not too quiet in the South. We have booked there for December and I have been having reservations about going! After reading that there are other things to do than almost get killed on "that road" I feel much happier
I have enjoyed reading the North, South debate and IMO both have their good & bad points but the one thing they have in common is that the locals in both places are equally as nice and as helpful. I am also coming around to the thought that which ever resort you go to 1st has a bearing on your choice when returning. I think the problem we all have when returning is we all slip into a comfort zone and we like are usual surroundings ( fav beach fav shack ect) but I noticed a few H/T regulars this year started to visit other shacks probably as a result of the comments that had been posted on the forum, so we did the same this year and enjoyed the experience, and although you feel a bit guilty at 1st, (especially when the lads ask where you have been for the last couple of days) and trying to explain to them that its nothing personal
Do any of you have the name of a good appt/hotel? I notice that Dona Sylvia comes highly recommended, but we're not so keen on AI. It doesn't have to be anywhere too fancy as long as it's clean, pretty central and I wouldn't mind air *** or at least a ceiling fan.
Getting quite excited about going now, but we've got to wait until the end of November.

The Hotel is owned and run by Tony Gaffino and his sons Brian and Bradly if you ecounter any problems go to Tony direct he is the "godfather" when he gets involved things get done. They also own Gaffinos Guest House about 10 min walk away they serve good food and again is very clean. At the rear of he hotel they are building private holiday villas where there is a prvate access road leading to the beach (appr 600yrds) for use by hotel guest only.
There is really no disturbance or noise caused by the developement to the hotel.
My only criticism is the pool, it is small and not very appealing, but that is personal view

Oh I dont know about that Maz, it is Goa after all
Your right Eliebee it is Goa and the villa's should have been finished last year
we're a group of friends planning a trip to goa over new year this year, and are wondering if its possible to stay in the south and still go out and party in the north at night, or are the distances too far? we're going to be in goa for 4/5 days, and perhaps would intend to go out in north goa a couple of evenings while we were there (incl. new years eve). the other question is that is there a lot going on in the evenings in the south, or is it pretty quiet?
k
p.s. In the South although not the club scene of the North the shacks still hold great beach parties with Fireworks, fire dancers, music and dancing which go on until the last guest leaves
out of interest, approx. how long does it take to get from, say cavelossim, to anjuna/vagator/party areas, by car at night?
At night I would say a little over an hour though (longer through the day due to traffic add an extra half hour on) I've never actually timed it as I am always too busy looking at all the sights on route
Although only just planning our second trip to Goa it has to be the South for us. Spend a few odd days in the North last time (2 years ago) and it was too manic for us. However, even by staying in the South we still managed to get out and about quite a bit and didn't spend all day just lazing by the pool! Taxis were excellent for getting you to where ever you wanted to go, North and South, and lots of good beach shacks to eat at. We stayed at Benaulim last time and are returning in November. Can't understand how we have managed to stay away so long and are beginning to realise how much we have missed the place. Bring on November !!!!!!!!!!!!!
brought back for Neil
Great stuff....thanks Fiona
for papa x lassi
No no no no no no tightjock dont tell them
You know it is so true that when you come home all you seem to think about are the negatives and the way things are changing so quickly but after a week or so that Goa magnet starts to work its magic again.
Best forum on the internet no doubt.
Regards
Papa
