Quick check in at Manchester and arrived at Dalaman around 4pm. Was impressed with the new terminal though it isn't finished yet it is less intimidating and more efficient, we breezed through visas and passport control to be greeted by our transfer driver from Icmeler on line with bottles of cold water.
We stayed at the Epic apts in armutalan which are located quite far back near Club Julian, Xanthos and lots of others though are surrounded with bars and restaurants and the no 2 dolmus stops every few minutes over the road which goes to Tansas and others there to take you along the main street if not prepared/unable to walk also other places such as Icmeler.
Apts clean but basic, they have a large pool with a water slide though they would only turn it on if a holiday maker was prepared to supervise. Pool staff very good especially with the children. Elvis was particularly good my nephew adored him. There was entertainment each night Michael Jackson, Belly dancing, staff shows, break dancers though repetitive and the same CD was played every night. BOGOF every night from 6pm to 11.59pm.
Only stayed in the bar for a few each evening preffering
Coco Bongos a little down the street - Good food, music and staff especially Elvis (another one) with his magic tricks,
Yes Sir over the road from the apts - very good food,
Santana bar on the beach front - karaoke and entertainment,
Prontos our favourite eating place on the beach front has changed name to Faulty Friends though still the same owners and staff and food again was faultless,
Longings bar facing the Anemon hotel on the main street - relaxing, good music and went to many more round the harbour and on the beach front.
A not again for us was a Chinese/Indian restaurant over the road from the apts, my sister ordered a lamb dopiaza to be presented with a warmed up Chinese beef curry which got sent back, things we didn't have were added to the bill and drinks were dearer on the bill than stated on the menu.
Marmaris very very quiet, most bars and restaurants were only a quarter full if that in some of them, all the Turks we spoke to said they have never had such a bad year, lots of bars closed, though they may have a surge of tourists next month with all the cheap deals about

Most places doing BOGOF at 5ytl a beer though always ask for a bottle as we witnessed a few places pouring marmara beer into glasses when somebody had asked for draught Efes.
Spirits between 5 and 8ytl though Often watered down.
At night we bought my nephew a couple of bottles of pop from the shop before we went out and took them in the bars which nobody minded as going to each bar he was only drinking bits of the ones we ordered him.
Food prices cheaper with an exchange rate of 2.8ytl to the pound.
Steak dishes 16-20ytl.
Chicken dishes 10-13ytl
Pastas 8-12ytl.
Went on 2 boat trips, booked with Donatella tours on the Mega Diana boat. Mustafa the crazy captain is brilliant and very experienced he captains a 42 metre fishing boat in the winter. He entertains all day making hammocks, catching fish and telling jokes. Ali was also very good. The first time we have been to Turunc on a boat trip a really lovely little place.
The weather on the first week was great but from Sunday 24th when there was a massive down pour, it stayed overcast (Minus half of Tuesday) for the rest of the week with an electrical storm on Thursday night but not moaning you can't do anything about the weather
