We recently had a very stressful time at Chicago airport where we had to change for a flight onward to San francisco. Although there was over a 2 hour gap between landing and getting our onward flight the lines going through the baggage scan were horrendous and were like the really bad lines you get at a popular ride at Disney. We tried to tell the people "marshalling" the lines that we had an ongoing flight in a few minutes but just got attitude and kissing of teeth for our pains. We were lucky that the flight ended up being delayed so we still managed to get it. Apparently normally the flights will still go even if your luggage is on them but you are not! Really secure huh?
Just be aware if you are booking flights with onward flights as I've heard the warnings about immigration being bad but didn't realise the baggage scans/checks would be so disorganised. I'd say leave at least 3 hours between flights.
Perhaps Chicago has particularly bad delays or you were just unlucky (then again, seeing how you did make your connecting flight, not THAT unlucky). What does "kissing teeth" mean?
It's difficult to explain that one without someone getting all PC on me and saying I'm racist!!
Guess it is a bit difficult to explain withoutout someone getting the wrong idea . I just can't believe you ask someone for help in the land of customer service and they just treat you with total ignorant indifference or to put it better utter contempt. People were being treated like cattle whether they were US citizens or not and I'm very suprised people in the US put up with it unless this was a one off.
Political correctness is the bane of society today... so knock yourself out. What does "kissing teeth" mean?
Yes - what is "kissing teeth" - you've got us all curious now
If there's the slightest chance anyone could be offended by it's meaning then please explain via pm as I'm the one who will have to take the flack!
Can you tell me which terminal you were at and who you were flying with? We have a flight to Vegas through Chicago in November with AA and I'm worried that we won't make it. The airline states that you only need 1 hour 15 minutes to get through the process.
When you get off the plane try to speed walk past everyone as it is a good walk to custom control and get first in the queue.
The best bit though is when you land at Vegas you are in an internal terminal and you have done immigration and when you walk from that plane and see what is ahead of you then you know you are in Vegas
John
i have never run through an airport,so fast,which is a sight,believe me!!!!
anyway, they were waiting for us & also passengers from another flight, which i never thought they would do,so it was fine in the end,but boy,was we glad when we were sat,on that plane!!!!

Thanks for the reassurance John. Every time I see a post like this I begin to worry about it again.
