Does any one know of a beach front villa for hire maybe in St Petes, but also within walking distance to bars/ restaurants. We are going in October 2010 to Florida for the first time spending 10 nights in Orlando maybe Kissimee and 8 nights maybe in St Petes but I would love it to be on the beach.

I doubt you will find a villa on the beach in St.Pete's. A Condo perhaps. Most Gulf Coast villas will be off the beach front, with perhaps the exception of Naples - but a beach front property there will be very expensive.
Have a look at http://www.vrbo.com for St Pete- there should be plenty. You rent direct from the owner.
