Biera Mar is set back off Baga - Calangute road near its junction with Titos road ---On the maps it is "Afran resorts" next to Ronil royal Hotel.

Ive been having a look at this hotel and it seems pretty reasonable.
Ive been on a few hotels websites and i have found this hotel at around 20pounds cheaper for half board than bed and breakfast for the 3 of us.
This is strange.
Id never go half board, as eating out in the evening is the main attraction.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Where exactly is this hotel?
I know its in Baga, but where?
Is it near the ronil beach resort?

We have a thread from 2006 here and two very different reviews from October this year here

Yes the Beriamar is just up the road from the Ronil Resort, more or less opposite Casa Portuguesa.

We last stayed their 2 years ago, although it is very basic, it is close to everything in Baga, and roughly a 10 min walk to beach via the main road.

Thanks Fiona.

Hmm, maybe they stayed in different rooms?

i'm staying there in Feb - we only want a base and somewhere to sleep so we're not that fussy, most of the reviews said it was clean that's the main thing we're bothered about, anyone else been there recently?

Thanks rachie.
I think we will choose this hotel as its very reasonable in price, and its in a good location.

I still do not understand why half board is cheaper than bed and breakfast ?

we stayed at the beira mar in October for 4 weeks I love it its nice just to walk out the gate and you have everything there without having to get taxis every time walk straight across the road keep going past Loungefly and your on the beach this was our 8th or 9th time to goa always stayed at the marinha dourada which yes it has lovely grounds but the rooms are basic and i found the staff at the beira mar 100 times more friendly than at the MD nothing is to much trouble for them the bed linen was always snow white the cleaners are brilliant the breakfast was fine just the usual toast but was always cooked fresh for you and of course you could always order and pay for other things the food was really nice the restaurant was packed every night 3 course meal for 300 rups
then again everyone has different tastes while I was there i was speaking to a woman and she said it was the worst hotel that she had stayed in i think there are some rooms worse than others just ask to be moved if its not right anyway as i say i loved it if others dont thats good cause there will always be a room free for me

Pinkdog - just a couple of questions as you stayed there recently - What is security like? Do we have to bring our own padlock for a safe? Also we've heard to take a security chain to put thro the wardrobe doors - do you reckon we could do this with the wardrobes there?
Also did you stay in an air con room? As we've just gone for the cheap option with a fan, just wondered what these rooms are like!
Also were there either fridges or kettles in the kitchen? Are towels provided and how often?
Soz for all the questions lol!!

there are 2 or 3 security men on all night and security cameras the safety deposit boxes are in a room behind reception where you have a key to open and so do they(need both keys to open) the only thing that was a bit of a pain was you could only get into the security room between 9am and 6pm as i think the reception wasnt 24 hours as for chaining your wardrobe i really dont think that would be necessary
i felt that it was safe enough we had air con but depending on what month your going (we went oct/nov)always go this time of year it was the first time i actually had to get a jacket to put on the evenings were quite nippy as was early morning(7am) so i think a fan would have been enough really, we also go end of april i think you would definately need air con then as to the rooms i think they are all different we had 2 rooms a great big room with a fridge, table, chairs, dressing table and wardrobe, behind the wardrobe was a door i moved the wardrobe just to be nosey and it was an unused and very dusty kitchen area just worktops and sink

forgot yes towels are supplied everyday beds changed everyday just leave key at reception when you go out, cleaners seem to be there all day and work very hard we used to leave a small tip each day anything you want they will get

Hi, is the Beira Mar on the same side of the road as the Ronnil beach resort?
Also, is it a bit further up towards the far end of Baga, or is it more towards Calangute?

Thanks

Nicola

Yes it's on the same side of the road as the Ronil and about a 5 min walk further towards the Baga river i.e. away from Calangute.
