http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/#results You may well find you get a better rate by cashing in your sterling in resort . Depends where you are staying though for the hassle factor.
slightly better with the post office online but not by much .
susan the rate is always higher in turkey than the uk ,especially if you change over £100 in a turkish bank, ive just looked on line at my turkish bank account and the rate now is 2.31, this could be as its nearly 5pm there and the rate goes down near close of the day, the link mike gave you is very close to the rates in turkey
hi there last year we just cashed in money when we needed it you get a better rate in turkey than over here surprsie surprise LOL
Plus you can use Turkish Lire or sterling in resort
Dont exchange nothing here apart from the minimum, Todays Bank rate in Turkey is 2.38, And only exchange your money at any bank for the very best rates, Dont use free commision shops as the rates are far less than the banks.
Do the Turkish banks charge a commission?
the ones i have used never do, they always give you a better rate if you change over £100 worth
Thanks thats really useful to know.
They are not charging for withdrawals in Turkey.
I have a Nationwide flexaccount too - how do you find out the rate they are giving on that?
The only other place that you get near the same rate is the PTT post office but you will pay commision dependent on how much you exchange.
Kim,I dont think you get to know the actual rate until you get your bank statement but last October we were getting 2.53TL by using the ATMs.Our friends who were with us were getting about 2.35-2.40TL by changing their money there.
OK .so I'll wait till i get over there, Were going to Altinkum Didum beach Resort. anyone know where the Bank is please.
We got a far better rate just using atm's last year so will do the same this year, didnt get charged for withdrawls either. We didnt find out until we got a bank statement but when i thought i was taking £100 of YTL it was only £93
Thomas Cook is usually good for exchange rates to have some lira.
