Not sure whether anyone else has picked up on the latest Thomas Cook nasty little website rule. Most folk know that the old benefits of the Thomas Cook credit card in avoiding card charges were removed recently. And so these cards aren't now worth having.
And now they have made it even worse.
If you aim to pay top-up deposit on a credit card you will notice that they now impose a minimum fee of £5.95. So that means for a top-up deposit payment of £75 you pay a fee of around 8% !!
If you telephone to pay them - then you sit in an 0871 phone queue listening to bad music at a charge of 10 pence per minute - and you can easily end up being charged an extra couple of pounds this way. The SAYNO870 alternative numbers have all been switched off to prevent you avoiding their charges.
And to rub the last bit of salt into the wound.... if you try to pay on the website, using a VISA DEBIT card to avoid the charging - then the website insists that the card number is not a debit card - so they want to charge you the credit card fee anyhow.
And it again offers you the alternative of telephoning the 0871 cheat number and paying to listen to bad music.
I made a mistake in booking Thomas Cook - I will never ever make that mistake again.
