Well I have finally done it, and booked for the 2009 season, I can honestly say that the prices have rocketed this year, I have never seen the flights so expensive. Luckily we had BA airmiles, not enought to cover the full price but we did it with 7,000 airmiles, and 150 pounds each. Which was an excellent price, this year we will be staying from 1st of December until 28th of February.
As we are renting an apartment we don't go out every night, we usually have a meal on the beach then, a snack if we are hungry, that I make, later on in the evening. I have been reading all the local goan papers every day, and I have a feeling that prices this year will not be as cheap as we are used to. Last year I found that many of the shacks food prices were costing more than a resturant, in Candolim or Calangute, this year it will be even dearer, as they will want to recoup there losses from the past year.
I have been in two minds about going back to Goa,as I have felt that it is beginning to lose its majic, with the taxi and tuk tuk drivers, charging the same prices as the UK practically, and the feeling that every one is out to rip you off all the time. but the thought of lazy days spent on the beach, the struggle to stand up on a bus, Mapsua market, Panjim ferry, its won. I cant bear the thought of not going.
I have a feeling that it will be the last time for us, as there is a big world out there, but where else can you spend 3 months, in a place that is so majic.
We will see.
Is still the cheapest place to be for 5 months of the year, and you can still find nice shacks and beaches you can still find cabs that dont rip you of,If the restaurants/shacks are charging to much then dont use them, there will always be good ones available at great prices,do some homework and before hand and take note what people recommend doom and gloom i keep reading will not spoil
our way of life over there. If your not happy with it,then stay in doom and gloom England,i can guarantee it will be more expensive than Goa
Do you stay at the same place long term each year?

Hi Gemma,Yes we do,I know we are lucky to have that time there ,but planed it very early in our life,
so we could(like you are) work only until we had enough money to finish work completely.
and yes we rent the same place every year ,Hope you can live the dream to, soon

The flight companies are taking the opinion that if you are set on going to a certain country then you will pay the price.
well I really thought I wouldn't be going again but have booked for 3 weeks in December and 3 weeks next March then that is definitely it! I'm going to book for Vietnam and Cambodia Nov 09 and am looking forward to them all!
