Funny you should mention....
I took my first cruise on Majesty of the Seas and was hooked on cruising from then on.
She is in drydock (Jan 12th for 3 weeks) undergoing a major refurbishment.
There is so much to do onboard, you can stay busy all the time or just veg out and watch the ocean go by. Be sure and go to Johnny Rockets for a fun experience- it cost $3.95 to eat there but the waiters do a 'Staying Alive' dance routine after they serve your Burgers, its great fun. Apart from Johnny Rockets and Sorrentos (which will be a new specialty Italian restaurant) there is no charge for food onboard and you can eat 24hrs a day. Room service is also 24hrs a day- free apart from tip to delivery person if you want breakfast in bed for example. My favourite place onboard is the Windjammer cafe- casual dining at the front of the ship- I have lots of happy memories of sitting up there in the morning eating fresh papaya and mango for breakfast, watching the turquoise ocean going by..... it doesn't get much better than that.
I travel with teens so I always buy a soda Card (for Colas) as soon as we get onboard- it costs $4 per day and then you get unlimited soft drinks for the duration. That's a bargain.
You can be very busy keeping up with all the activities-read your Cruise Compass daily- that is a newpaper they deliver to outside your cabin every night,it lists all the fun things going on the next day. I carry mine with me all the time so I don't miss things.
Lots of fun on deck starts with the sailaway party- steel band playing while the waiters bring around Pina Coladas/Mangotango/Bahama Mamas- all fou fou drinks.-- tip- don't bother with the souvenir cups- they cost a lot more. EAch sea day they have fun around the pool- bellyflop/hairy legs/sexy legs/limbo competitions- it's hilarious. Then of course there are trivia competitions/Bingo/karaoke/talent comepttions/comedy clubs/Broadway shows to go to. I could go on and on.
There is nothing more magical than being up on deck at night watching the stars,it's literally heavenly.
For lots more info try a visit to Cruisecritic - any other day than today, they are upgrading the site but this is the largest cruise site- click on reviews and then your ship for professional review and then click on Member reviews for passenger comments. Also visit the 'Boards' where passengers ask questions- similar to this site but devoted to cruising. You're in for a fabulous trip.
I have done the Royal Swim with dolphins and it was thrilling, that was in Cozumel though. I think the one in Nassau is just the Dolphin Encounter.
That excursion always sells out fast so book ahead if interested.
Atlantis resort- it costs $29 to take a tour but for me the greatest attraction there is the waterparks and slides- which are not available to cruise passengers- for the admission fee you get to see the grounds/Casino/Aquarium/beach.
Cocoa Cay is paradise. White sand/turquoise sea/all the beach toys you need/hammocks under the palm trees/waiters bringing Pina Coladas around/BBQ cooking. It is a great day. You can rent snorkeling equipment there if you want,or pedalos/jetskis/floats.
Be sure and check your Cruise Compass for the 'Quest Game' and go at least to watch or if you're up for fun then compete- I'm laughing now as I think about it. I have sailed several RCCL ships and I never miss it.
