How worried should I be about travelling on the 18th April? This weekend the flight I will be on BA0209 is cancelled all over this weekend. Heathrow to Miami. Don't know whether any of the people on this flight have been transferred to another Airline. My dilemma is that I board a cruise on the 19th which has the first 6 days at sea. T/A Fort Lauderdale to Rome.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the strike being over by this time. ie. 4 Weeks today!
Sue
The second round of strikes is planned for 4 days commencing 27th March. Unless any further strikes are announced and/or a deal isn't reached, you should be fine. It's a case of wait and see.

I took a bit of advice from the Seat Guru and have booked an aisle and a window seat for the flight. At the time I was going to ask you but was told by the Moderator that you were off on a well deserved holiday. Hope it was a good one!!
I am on BA 747 flight H/R to Miami and cant remember if it is 777 744. The seats are showing but do you think they will change them when they notice them? Most times I would book 2 aisle seats as I have some medical problems and my friend needs wheelchair assistance. I suppose I will need to wait and see.
I spoke to BA about medical things I need for my travels (SIA gave me an extra 5K last year) and they referred me to their Medical line who have given me a second bag allowance for all flights. They say if they just gave me 2-5K BA would charge me. Now I can take 2 bags up to 23K each.
I may just take another small overnight roll on case!
Will see how the packing goes.
Thanks again Darren for your as always prompt and helpful response.
Sue
I had a good holiday thanks. Aircraft / seats shouldn't change from what is scheduled (BA207/6 & BA207/8 - Boeing 747-400).
Darren
Thanks again Darren you are a STAR!
I guess there are quite a few of us due to travel later who are keeping our fingers crossed that it will all be over before our flights. I'm due to fly to Tunis on 24th April so in theory there is plenty of time for them to come to their senses, but it looks as if both sides are digging their heels in!!
What a relief now I can look forward to the 18th April without the stress that this situation creates.
Good luck to everyone and I do feel that the strike may well be over by then in any case.

BA to fly 180,000 through strike
More than three quarters of passengers booked will to fly with British Airways between tomorrow and March 30, despite the four days being targeted for strikes by cabin crew members of Unite.
Of approximately 240,000 customers originally booked to travel in the strike period, the airline expects to fly more than 180,000.
A further 18% have been rebooked to travel on other carriers, or changed the dates of their BA flights to avoid the strike period.
Several thousand customers have brought forward their departures to today (Friday), BA said.
During Unite's first round of industrial action last weekend, almost 60% of rostered cabin crew ignored the strike call and reported for work.
BA has pledged to fly a full normal schedule from Gatwick and London City airports over the next four days.
At Heathrow, the airline will operate 70% of its long-haul programme (up from 60% in the first strike period) and 55% of its short-haul programme (up from 30%).
BA chief executive Willie Walsh said: "I am delighted that we will be able to fly such a large proportion of our customers to their chosen destinations in the coming days.
"The vast majority of British Airways staff, including thousands of cabin crew, are pulling together to serve our customers and keep our flag flying.
"At the same time, I feel really sorry for those customers whose plans have been ruined by Unite's completely unjustified action. Despite the union's promises, this strike has affected the Easter holiday plans of thousands of hard-working people."

Thanks
I think they said on TV last night that the earliest they could be called out again was around mid-April which doesn't fill me with confidence as I'm hoping to fly on 24th!!
Hopefully for everyone else the strike will be averted and we can each get on with looking forward to our holiday.
Happy Easter everyone!
Sue
I'm sure you'll be fine one way or another Sue and have a wonderful cruise. My trip is a d.i.y. one as usual so it's fingers crossed.
You will be OK and my last 4 cruises were put together to get me the flights etc I wanted. This time with a one way flight to Miami it was cheaper to let X do it for me.
Hi, im traverling to Tampa on the 30th May on BA2167. i'M TRAVERLING WITH 2 CHILDREN AGED 3 AND 7 does anyone know if the kids get any kind of goodie bag.
BA still offer Skyflyers' activity packs for children as far as I know. For children between the ages of three and five, it consist of a Paddington Bear case, activity book with finger puppets and crayons. Children aged six to twelve get a Pencil case, pen, Skyflyers activity magazine and a Pack of playing cards. There's also a series of downloads for colouring in available on BA's website.
Darren
Thanks Darren

I don't think anyone knows that at the moment as BA and the Unions are still in talks. You'll just have to see what comes out in the media over the next week or two.

Hi i am flying BA279 heathrow to LA on june 1st,i want to book my seat number, can anyone tell me if the last three rows at the back of the 747 (the 2 seats on there own) rows 51/52/53 seats b,c,h,j have windoes? thanks.
Yes, those rows have windows. Bear in mind the outer pairs of seats (rear 3 rows) are set away from the fuselage wall so you can't lean against it. Because the seats are slightly offset, foot room is slightly restricted and being at the rear of the aircraft where there's several toilets, some passengers don't like the disturbance. They're ideal if you're travelling as a couple however.
Darren
thanks dazbo, also say the back log of flights weren't cleared when i depart is my seat safe? or can BA give to another passenger? thanks
