I have today had my flights with BA changed to American Airlines with a direct flight Heathrow to Miami on the 22nd May.
The 0209 BA flight is cancelled but the 0207 flight is still flying.
2 of us are booked on the AA flight but a friend who booked at a different time from us with a different reference no has been put on the 0207 but on the 21st May.
We are all travelling out to join a cruise with Celebrity. I have the CSM and the Team Leader at Celebrity working on trying to resolve this. Hopefully we will all be on the AA flight or failing that if they put us all on the Friday flight.
Celebrity have said that they would pay for an extra nights accommodation in Fort Lauderdale but this is for June and as things stand at the minute we are waiting on further information.
BA are obviously working hard to buy seats for passengers and are doing their best.
The Aircraft is a 777 and I have had a look on Seat Guru Darren at the seat plan. The flight is pretty well booked but I have bagged 2 seats (2-5-2 formation) which say preferred seats. Prebookable by Advantage Passengers. If it let me book the seats do you think this will be OK? Also I have just joined their programme so I have a number to add should I need it!
To all of you out there who are waiting on news GOOD LUCK.
NOW don't say it what if there is an ASH problem? I won't even go there!
Sue
Darren, im flying on the 30th May on BA2167, TO Tampa.
I have reserved seat 16 A B &C, is that a good seat to have 16C, is that correct it dosen't have seat in front of 16 C. So i'm hoping there is lots of
legroom. Also does the seat have a window view.
We are on a 777, aircraft
I'm hopeful my flight will go....Thankyou
Are you on the BA flight out of Gatwick if so the strike won't effect you.
yes Sue i am. Does anybody know about seat 16C on BA 777.

If you have booked seats and it's accepted them, then yes, you shouldn't have a problem.
Darren
Those seats are as good as any others. 16C has extra legroom as there's no seat infront otherwise it would hinder movement through the curtain in to the WT+ cabin. That row has a window.
Darren
It has been a long day and without the contact at Celebrity the Customer Services Manager and their flight department Team Leader I might not have got where I am.
Just pray there is no ASH problems now.
The only change to our travel plans is that our flight is out of Heathrow a bit earlier but we are into Miami earlier. Result.
Sounds like you've done pretty well out ot if. I suspect there'll be a lot of dissapointed travellers out there next week. Given the problems BA are facing, 20 days of strikes is the last thing they need.
Darren
Seat 15 A& C, is a bulkhead seat i take it, and im behind them, as im 5ft 11, it will be nice to get a bit of legroom.
Do you know if it is quite a bit extra legroom.
It is BA2167 flight number
Sharon
Yes, row 15 is a bulkhead seat (WT+ dividing screen) and row 16 is behind 15! I've never sat in that particlar seat, but there's nothing in front of it so whoever sits there will be able to strech their legs out. The only problem with it is, you'll have people walking past including cabin crew with carts so they'll have to be careful not to cause a trip hazard. The seat infront is missing to allow access through the diving screen in to the WT+ cabin.

Biritish Airways is taking out an injunction against UNITE's proposed forthcoming strike:
I'm in the process of booking a flight down to Heathrow and I must admit I'm rather hesitant at booking with BA at the moment, even though it would be nice using the executive club card and T5. Lets hope they see sense and this is resolved quickly without too many more strikes and passenger disruption. Depending how things go, i'll be flying with bmi and using the Diamond Club card instead!
BA have a larger size of hand baggage 56cms tall as well as wider and deeper allowance.
I have one trolley bag which is 57cms including the handle the wheels but is much smaller in depth and width.
Do you think I would get away with this 1cm?
My gut instinct is that I would although I did buy a smaller one as Ryanair Flybe and Jet2 have smaller restrictions that either BA and AA if we are that flight. I emailed BA and you can now once again have a second item of hand baggage ie handbag laptop etc.
Why am I asking this if the dreaded ASH should strike me once again!
Thanks Darren
Sue
It depends if you are questioned about the size of the bag and whether you can squash it in to the measuring basket. Only you can answer whether you want to take the risk. If it's rigid and wont squash, I wouldn't risk it personally as the last thing you need is a bag that's refused travel. If it's squashable and you have room inside to squash it enough to get in the basket, you should be ok. If you don't need all the space and have a smaller bag, that might be a better option to eliminate the problem but it's ultimately up to you.
Darren
BA were actually allowing me an extra bag for check in without charge as I have some medical equipment I need to take with me.
The bag I am talking about is a little trolley and it fits easily in the overhead locker. It was my intention to check this bag in and just take a handbag or another smaller bag I have. Now with AA I seem to just have one bag to check in and so am wondering if I would be better as you say to take the smaller bag which is well below the sizes needed by BA.
I can probably if I am careful or maybe my friend would take some of my liquids for me? She definately won't have 23K bag to check in. I did mention this to her previously and she said no problem! I am taking her on this cruise and she is so delighted about it. Also I could buy some lotions etc once I am through security. I will work it out and many thanks as ever for your fantastic support on these boards. WHAT would we do without?
Sue
I would check-in as much as I could so you didn't need to carry it and take the smaller bag and share the weight between you to avoid problems, but that's just me!
Darren
Thanks Darren a very wise response. Will do!

BA have stated that should your flight be reinstated then you will have the option to revert back to the origional booking.
Anyone make any guesses as to when this would happen. My flight is not until Saturday and currently I have a flight transfer to American Airlines.
Once again many thanks perhaps Darren!
Sue
Passengers will just have to wait and see what BA announce. All I can suggest is you keep an eye on BA's website relating to bookings over the next few days. It's all a big mess and I'm sure those behind the scenes are tearing their hair our with all the too-ing and fro-ing.
