Afternoon,

Just a couple of quick questions and for some advice (and hopefully some first hand experience).

I'm off to Orlando in October in Club World. I've read a few reviews by people stating that they haven't been able to secure their first choice of meal (despite sitting in row 4/5). I'm looking to avoid this situation (particularly because the OH is a particularly fussy eater). So, bearing that in mnd...

1. Do they serve from front to back in CW (or at least take your order from front to back)?
2. Bearing the above in mind, which seats would be the best choice (and is it worth paying the £240 to secure them now) - although I am aware that mid-october is a quiet month.

I am sure about this but they don't come and ask what you wish to eat that is done when they are actually serving the meal. When I travelled back from Miami in June they served the section I was seated in from the front I think I was in row some thing like row 21???? I was in economy and I am uncertain as to which row was at the front of economy? Probably Darren or someone will know better. From personal experience and I travel a good deal I have never had a situation where the meal I wanted has not been available . Maybe I am just fortunate.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your reply. To my knowledge, things in Club World work a little differently. When you are seated a menu is brought around with a choice of starters, mains and desserts. You give your selection to one of the cabin crew and then they prepare it for you and serve it a little later. Because there are several choices, they only carry a limited selection of each. So, I am trying to determine whether they collect choices from the front, going back (or some other system) and cross them off the list as they collect peoples' choices - until they run out of your first choice and then ask you for your second preference. (I hope that this makes sense?)

I didn't realise that you were talking about Club World. In that case I have never had a problem in Business Class either. Flown BA and Qantas but perhaps I have just been fortunate. Yes they do offer choice with a menu provided but then I am not so bothered about what I eat.
It would not be a big issue for me. I am sure that you will be able to sort things out.

hi Darren, we are booked up with Thomas Cook to go to Fuengerolia, we fly from Glasgow to Malaga on October 10th, i have noticed that our flight code is BA4533. I am assuming that this is a British Airways flight? I didnt know that tour operators used BA for charter flights, it would be handy to know if it is BA in case any industrial action is announced for October.

BA have been scheduled to operate flights down to Malaga from Glasgow using their new Embraer aircraft.

Looks like from what you are saying Thomas Cook must be using them (yes BA flight number will be by BA).

As for any strike - it is likely that the crew operating the flight will be London City based - working under different T&C's of the mainstream BA - and therefore I would suspect that the flights will not be affected by any planned BA action. I would be more concerned about BAA action.....which could affect GLA operations should a strike be called.

BA announces changes to network

British Airways is launching flights to Haneda in Japan in a bid to open up the domestic Japanese market to UK travellers.

The five-a-week service from Heathrow to Haneda will begin on February 19, 2011.

It will be served by a Boeing 777 with prices starting from £721.

BA said the airport offers excellent links to Japan's domestic network and is also located near the business centre in Tokyo.

The airline's daily service to Tokyo's Narita airport will continue.

BA also announced today other changes to its network from March 27.

It is adding new direct flights to Buenos Aires, rather than via Sao Paulo, and is increasing services to the Caribbean from Gatwick.

Barbados will increase from 10 to 12 flights a week, Antigua will increase from five to six services a week and the St Lucia - Port of Spain service will increase from five a week to daily.

Cancun, launched in November 2010, is increasing from two to three services for summer 2011.

Gatwick to Tampa is increasing from five to seven flights a week, but Orlando is decreasing from nine to seven flights a week.

Flying Newcastle to Heathrow, BA1321 then on to Venice, BA0578 this week. Can someone confirm there will be a breakfast roll on the Newcastle flight but just a snack on the Venice flight? Do they serve any complimentary drinks on the Venice flight in Economy?

Has Anybody ever tried World Traveller Plus with BA?
We are looking to book some flights with BA for Next Year and this is only £258 return for this upgrade, this seems rather cheap so wondered if anyone had tried it, and if it was actually worht it for that price?

Hi Davies,

I've flown a couple of times on WTP and it's good.

Slightly wider seats but above all, 7 inches more legroom which make a real difference in long haul.

Food and drinks are the same though.

The only other thing on top is the games on the on demand entertainment (on all 747s and some 777s now)

This is quite a small cabin so it's nice and cosy.

For that price, you shouldn't hesitate especially on a longer flight.

Agree with that, did WTP to Bahamas 2 years ago and service was comparable/if not slightly better than premium economy with VA...

Flying WTP to Grenada in 3 weeks time and really looking forward to it

Hi I am travelling to JFK from Heathrow on 11th December with BA, the flight is around 11am (I dont have the flight details to check the exact time or flight number sorry) I just wanted to know what type of plain this is likely to be?

Looking like (Timetabled as) some form of Boeing 747.

Please quote flight numbers when requesting aircraft information as there are several daily flights, some of which are code shares. LHR-JFK-LHR (BA175/6) are operated by a Boeing 747-436.

BA switches aircraft on Vegas route

British Airways is introducing a First class cabin on its Las Vegas route and increasing capacity by 18%.

From June 1, direct daily flights from Heathrow Terminal 5 will switch from a three-class Boeing 777 to a four-class B747.

This means BA will offer an additional 124 seats on every round trip. Each flight will now have 14 seats in First.

Head of marketing and sales Richard Tams said the route was one of its star performers.

Evening all.... Sara and I are off on our annual trip to the Caribbean next tuesday... we are flying to Grenada BA2153, returning 7th Dec BA2152.....

When I booked I was told that these flights are direct, but reading a review on another site, that poster had a 2 hour (on plane) stopover in both directions (didn't specify where)... can you shed any light on this?
