I pre reg with Direct Holidays and they called me on Wed and where able to quote me a price for summer 2010 to crete, i asked when 2010 was going on sale was told 25th June but because i pre reg i could book now...... only came back a few hours later with 2 places one being half board and the other self catering. Half board for 2 adults, one 15 year old on return and the other 11 year old £2570 for 2 weeks and thats with a free childs place
Have just checked Direct Holidays web and they have some holidays on sale for summer 2010. Thomas cook have no summer 2010 on sale yet.
ah right, the woman i spoke to told me they had brochures on their desks and were working from them!! never mind, shall go and see what their website is saying this morning then!
only algarve and costa blanca as short haul, and i tried the only hotel its bringing up for alicante and it says there is an error and can't give me a price breakdown, but it was £1947 for 2 adults and a child for a week!!!!!!!!!

If you do a search for 2010 holidays with thomas cook all what comes up is 18-30 2010 holidays and properties are limited.
I think all of the tour ops will release on the 25th and they are working together on prices to fix them, thats only my opinion.

yeah i didn't get anything come up with TC and DH was just algarve and alicante! tis cool, i'll wait, been waiting long enough, another week won't kill me i suppose!
Just to confirm Thomas Cook shops are getting them in on the 25th of June.
I have found some extortionate prices on DH this morning for algarve, gran canaria from Manchester. £5000 ish for two adults and three kids at spring bank for two weeks. Cost me £2000 this year. Balken holidays are booking on line, and are more reasonable. Think i will have to do a DIY. Seen some reasonable flights on bmibaby, where is anyone getting prices from for accomadation though cos cant find many prices for next year?
Melid, I have been looking at Owners Direct website, the prices aren't quoted on many for next year but I've emailed some of the owners for prices and they've responded very quickly. Haven't done DIY before but am very tempted to give it a go.

The tour ops think because plenty of people want to book early they can charge what they like, I bet direct holidays struggled to get one booking when phoning people yesterday and with another 2500 to be phoned I think they will get the same answer, cost half the money this year no thanks we will wait.
Thanks for that Can't. The ones I've seen that I'd be interested in have all been advertised for some time and they are owned by people in the UK, they have several reviews/comments from previous guests. Haven't made up my mind for sure yet but they look ok to me

I started this discussion on the Tenerife forum last night before being directed to this discussion.
My story is basically the same as most on this forum, in that I was absolutely astounded by the prices I was quoted by Direct Holidays. Like most people have mentioned, I only hope this is an error on the pricing system otherwise I think they will lose a load of customers. The prices I was quoted were approximately £500/600 more than the 10% Increase I had estimated on top of this years cost!!

Thomas Cook have also started adding 2010 holidays to the website, not sure what other destinations they have prices on for as i have only looked at crete up to yet & thats coming in about the same price as Direct Holidays.

That is what I thought was happening, they pricing up the holidays the same as TC, thomson done the same thing portland last year and some of thomson holidays came in cheaper than portland, and they save upto 15% on high street prices. Its going to interesting the price of hotels done by both TC and thomson, if there is some price fixing.
After the new year TC and DH holidays cost exactly the same, the arum hotel DH reduced the price and then a week late TC dropped to the same price.

I think this is what a lot of people feared a couple of years ago when the big 4 (T.cook/Mytravel and Thomson/First choice) merged to make 2 major companies. Basically, they would eventually up prices!!
They've already started cutting flights so unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before prices went up. Maybe I'm looking on the black side and DH have got their early pricing wrong but I do fear the worst!!

I have found prices on tc for majorca, sharm, tenerife, malta all expensive.
Been in touch with my friend in Dawson and sandersons, holidays and brochures go on sale Thursday 25th June.
