by the way 550 leva a month is a good wage

It's a very good wage.

I was walking through Sveti Konstantin last year with a friend when we met her former teacher, who had retired and was running a tiny lace/materials stall in the resort - her pension was just over 100 Leva per month and the rent for the stall was phenominally high.

True, Stevie, but for resort work in a country with a national minimum wage level of 240 Leva per month it's very good. Advertisements for English-speaking servitori in the Southern resorts are offering around 320 Leva per month.

The majority of Bulgarians can only dream of earning anything like 550 Leva per month.
