Most airlines offer one way tickets so it's not a problem. I've flown outbound with First Choice and inbound with Thomas Cook a few times because of better flight times. It can work out more expensive doing it like that though. Many airlines will give discounts for a return ticket which you won't get on single flights. I would do your homework carefully. Sometimes outbound flights seem cheap but the inbound ones are expensive. Flights to Dalaman shouldn't be too expensive at that time of year because its coming to the end of the season. How much have you been quoted? Departure airport can make a difference so if you have the option of regionals, that's also worth considering.

Flying to Salou (Reus) last August I was sat next to a guy who had just rung round that morning and bought a single ticket to Reus for the First Choice flight we were on for 50 quid. I dont know if he would have rung FC or an agent.

He must have been a frequent flyer as he had an apartment & business interests out there. He said he normally booked his return ticket whilst he was out there to come back to the UK. Reckoned it was a cheap way to travel, but I guess you need to be flexible on return dates to do this.

I flew to the UK with Ryanair once on a one way and back to Germany with Easyjet again one way. The only thing I think I paid extra was the credit card fee which I had to pay twice.

Yes I often book one way tickets depending on where I need to fly from and to. eg. Last year able to fly out with Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford but returned to Manchester with Monarch. No problems as you say you will pay the card cost but just what the flight costs. A lot of Airlines now are priced as single flights and then added up when you add the return journey.
