We paid €70 for a local taxi Cala Bona to airport in May. The time to the airport just less an a hour sorry desn't make the fare any cheaper than previous years. This time I am using Janerbus to Santa Ponsa was quoted €33 to Santa Ponsa If you email them they will give you a quote, it is always a speedy reply. Advantage being they will be waiting for you, no queuing outside and they take NO money before you arrive. Nothing to lose.

Hi - we found it only took us about 50 mins (we returned yesterday) from Cala Millor to Palma but roads were very quiet so this may have influenced things slightly.

We used Janerbus (5 passengers so couldn't travel in normal taxi) and it was 95€ each way - we met them at Exit Gate 7 inside terminal building where they were waiting for us despite a problem getting our last suitcase and they arrived yesterday approx 10 mins before requested time to take us back to airport so we actually left resort at 3pm (our requested departure time) once packed up.

Couldn't fault them on service from email, telephone to Eva (who speaks Good English) and our female driver - honestly would have no qualms about recommending them to anyone.

Which block is the Cala Azul block.? I stayed in the refubished one opp main reception little bit down towards amusements (over looking street ,too mean to pay for sea View) this was a proper bath. It has air con which I paid extra for, mind a few years ago now.

Hi Calabonagirl

Thanks for your reply. The Cala Azul block is the block just beyond the Consul Hotel - it used to be called the Cala Azul Pensions and was one of the three blocks that the Hotel Cala Bona used - the others were the Pergola (the newly refurbished block on the corner) and the Nemo where you stayed. You can see I'm a Cala Bona Hotel fan - we came to Cala Bona every year from 1993 to 1999 then had this long break until this May. We're back again in 2007 tho'!

Tis - looking forward to reading your review soon.

Thanks to everyone for their advice!!!
Did get a quote of Janerbus of 65 euros which was spot on and used them, will use them again in the future. Had a great time at the floriana resort but it was a pity there was hardly any english staying there for the kids to play with.
Pity the caledonian restaurant has stopped and is now a tapas bar, never mind had a great time still.

Dazcal - glad you got sorted with Janerbus, I know we'd use them again and will do next year.

We wondered if the Caledonian Carvery was half carvery and half tapas bar as the sign for the carvery is still up???????? We ate there a few times last year but must admit I just didn't fancy it this year and we went to the London Inn instead and enjoyed several meals there.

Hello all
Wife and myself going over to Cala Bona on 14th - from the postings on here at the moment it seems as though we will be the only ones there lol. Hopefully the weather will hold and we will get a few days of sun.
Anyone else there at the same time as us?

I am sure you will have a lovely time. Cala Bona is my all time fave place for a holiday (about 15 times) Levante is a good hotel, very clean, good food and right on the beach. Entertainment every night to suit all tastes. Not many sunbeds and the towels appear at a very early hour!! Apart from this nothing negative to report, I am soooo jealous. I will be going in May, flight is booked, will leave the accom to a bit nearer the time. Let us know if you want any more info there is a few of us who our specialist subject is Cala Bona . Happy Holiday .CBG

We to have just booked a week in Majorca in March. Staying at the Alicia Hotel in Cala Bona.
We have never been before either that time of year or to Cala bona only ever been to Alcudia in September.
Not sure what to expect weather wise or what to pack. :?
Just remembered we went to Palma in April 2 years ago.

Our first visit to Majorca was to the Alicia in Cala Bona in March 2005.

You are staying in a really lovely hotel with fabulous views from the bedrooms. The food is superb also. We were due to be going there in February but the hotel has decided not to open due to lack of bookings.

Weather wise - it may well be mixed - you should get some sunshine but it may be quite cool at times. You may see snow on the mountains when you land in Palma. If you thinks about the weather as being a little like a spring day in England then you won't go far wrong. Take layers then you can add or subtract as the weather changes.

Cala Bona is lovely - fairly quiet and you can stroll along the flat promenade to Cala Millor which is busier.

Thank you, it sound just what we are looking for.
I hope they don't stay closed in March and move us somewhere else.

I would think that it is certain that the Alicia will be open in March - they are celebrating their 35th anniversary. Have you booked with Portland/Thomson or direct with Protur Hotels?? Take a look at the Protur hotels site for more info. We always book direct with Protur and to give them credit they refunded our deposit in full - mind you they only ask for 10% anyway!! The Alicia is only available as a package during the summer months which is why we go in the winter months.

I think the problem with February is that all the other hotels in Cala Bona are closed - so are a lot of the shops so that there really isn't a lot going on there. March tends to attract cyclists - on our first visit there were loads of cyclists in the hotel.

On our first visit in March 2005 the entertainment was superb - something for everyone - in February this year it was not so good - the hotel had only just re-opened after a little refurb and was less than a quarter full which probably explained why they had not got the entertainment up and running. Also add to that a change in hotel manager and some of the reception staff things had not quite got going. Hopefully it has now sorted itself out.

Enjoy - we will be in Palma Nova early February - by all accounts a totally different place in winter than in summer attracting an 'older clientele'. Have booked what is classed as the best hotel in Palma Nova - the Son Matias Beach. We have not explored that area of the island and are looking forward to visiting the beautiful city of Palma.

We are going with portland direct. We do normaly book our holidays DIY.
But this worked out cheaper as a package.
We went to Palma 2 years ago for a 4 night city break in April .
One of the best and cheapest winter holidays we have had.

We did that DIY booked the B & B hotel with bed bookers and the £9.99 flights with BMI Babay.
I think the whole thing only cost just under £250 for the 2 of us.
Palma City is lovely .
We had good weather and really enjoyed all the street entertainers and shops & bar etc.
Visited Palma Nova which was very nice and the dreaded Magaluf, it was still full with drunks even in April.
I had forgotten how many times we had been to Majorca over the years until now.
We have also been to Alcudia and Calas de Mallorca many many years ago.
I am looking forward to Cala Bona. It sound great.

Hi Charlie

We went to Cala Bona this year and stayed in the Bonamar Hotel which is the sister hotel to the Alicia.
We had such a wonderful time that we are going back in June for another 2 weeks ( can't wait only 6 months to go !!!!! )

The Alicia is a lovely hotel and like Pippa said it has a wonderful location. I can't comment on the food standards except if I go on the standard of the Bonamar you will NOT go hungry.
We visited the Alicia a couple of times in the evening for the entertainment and was made very welcome by the staff. :)

Cala Bona is a lovely resort which has a great harbour and the walk between the 2 resorts of Cala Bona/Millor is lovely.
Pippa has already told you about the weather which again I don't know about as I have only been there in June/July.

You will absolutely love it and many people on this forum will agree, there are a few of us who would always choose Cala Bona/Millor as our number 1 holiday resort....and I'm one of them !!! :D
Have a great holiday and please let us know what it was like !
Wish it was me :sulk although like I said only 6 months to go ! :hyper
