Welly, we're also going on the 19th and are very excited too!! Do you have any children? I have one boy aged 6, who cant wait!!
Yes we have 2 kids, one boy aged 8 and one girl aged 6, they're definitely excited although they're a bit worried about the airport.
I hope too that we're not delayed too long at the airport, although better safe than sorry. Hopefully by next week end things will have settled down a bit and be well organised.
I'm on countdown now, just need to get through the next few days at work and then I can get in the holiday mood.
Hope to see you there
Can anyone point out where the 7 bars are? I count 4 including what they call the irish bar... Where are the umbrellas? was there a laundry room or were the walls missing around the washers near the main restaurant? I never saw the playground, did anyone else? and have they fitted ceiling fans since June?
I'm tempted to go back and re-visit.....
Keep it friendly folks. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
The purpose of these forums is so that information, good and bad, can be exchanged. It is up to the individual how they use that information. I have seen people dismiss poor reviews, determined to have a good time, only to return and agree that the original poster was right. However I have also seen people extremely worried about poor reviews posting on their return to say how good a holiday they had.
From personal experience I know that things can change on a week by week basis. If someone goes and finds none of the problems previously reported, it doesn't mean that the earlier posters were moaners or hard to please, rather that the problems have been addressed and no longer exist.

everybody is allowed their own opinion of any holiday they have been on and it comes down to personnal choice.
i changed from these apartments because i booked a family room with bunkbeds and having spoke with first choice was told def bunkbed. they have changed it to a cabin bed/or bunk beds.
some friends have just returned from these apartments saying its the worst holiday they have, yet some people whom have posted on this topic have loved it. this just shows how different peoples opinions can be.
Can anyone tell me if there are hairdryers there?? Also have there been fans fitted???
There are no hair dryers but we did have a fan. Our room was exactly as it is on the FC website (the picture with the microwave in it and a fan on the side). We just unplugged the fan and took it to whichever room we were in.
I was talking to the parents of someone in my daughters class at school on Saturday and it turns out that they went to the Caleta Dorada at the end of June and they really enjoyed it. They said that it appeared like there were continuing improvements eg while they were there a large delivery of new matresses arrived. The couple I spoke to have got 3 kids from 6 - 16 and they said they would go back.
Roll on Saturday!
Just praying that we get put in Block C as it's ment to be the safest!!
Where are you flying from?? We're from stansted 2:30pm.
We are leaving tomorrow flying from Glasgow and i think im more excited than the kids are at the moment but im sure that will change once we get to the airport
My two kids are glad they can take their gameboys too, at least now I might get 5 minutes peace.
I am getting my cases out tonight, my son wouldn't let me get them out earlier as he has had a pot on his arm which he broke a few weeks ago and was scared he wouldn't be able to go in the pool if he still had it on. So he didn't wan't to start getting excited befoehand in case he still had to keep the pot on. Thankfully he's been discharged today, so it is all systems go.
Just two more days to work, I will be worse than the kids on Friday.
We've requested C block, so fingers crossed.
As you're there before us, is the first round of drinks on you?
Cmoore, have a safe journey tomorrow and see you there too!
i'll post a review later on.
have a wonderful time everyone who is going say hello to naughty nick at the kids club for me please, she's brilliant, even my very shy 3 year old loved her.
we have booked a kids suite ,this area so im told is where they all are
how many beaches are in caleta and whats the best ?
where can you find the cheapest car hire?
do they have the camels on the beach?
Not long now Welly, see you there we're sooooooo excited
jenni2777; C block is the best placed I reckon-Its handy for the Kids pool and entertainment bar, being just over the road and its got a great view of Caleta town, if you are in an apartment right at the top. Only 5 mins from the International restaurant for your meals, and the Supermarkets are also close by. We only saw camels on the beach when walking towards the Atlantico shops, not on the main beach of Caleta though, but there could be some there too.. Make sure you check your room fan out first thing, as the sheer number of users mean quite a number get broken/break down easily, so Reception should change it for you-make sure any replacements work!! Have fun
Did you do that review Madas I was look forward to seeiing what you thought of the place
Arrive back on saturday from this hotel. Will be posting review shortly. We had a fabulous time. The kids loved it and made load of friends. We were actually in B section and were so glad as C block seemed very hetic. A lot more relaxing on the B side.We had a great pool right next to our room. No reports of break-ins and no cockroaches. We thought the food was fantastic. Much better than our 4 star hotel last year. So to everyone going do not worry we all had a great holiday.
Apartments- we were in c/d 95 and 96, the room was lovely, well stocked with kettle, pans, cups and glasses, also a sandwich toaster and toaster. It was very clean with a lovely closed off back area (it was a sun trap, even jeans dried in 30 mins!) and an open front area with a table and 4 chairs.
The bedroom consisted of 2 single beds pushed together, a tall boy, 2 bedside cabinets and a large double wardrobe with shelves and a safety deposit box. The beds were reasonably comfetable, I asked for extra pillows and they were delivered within an hour.
The living area consisted of a kitchen with sink, full sized fridge a 2-ring hob and a microwave.
We had a TV (€5 deposit for remote) the channel reception was rubbish, very snowy and the signal went on and off, even though the kids enjoyed it in the afternoons. There is a sofa with foam cushions and a pullout bed underneath, it was very comfortable, but a bit rickety, I thought it would collapse if I turned over so I slept with the kids in the bedroom. There is also a cabinet, a coffee table, a side table and a chair.
Food- breakfast was buffet style with bacon, sausage, fried egg, beans, tomatoes, scrambled egg and boiled egg, cakes and bread, ham, cheese and cereal. There is HP brown sauce and ketchup. There are 2 toasters but they take forever so we didn't bother. Lunch was meat (pork/beef/chicken) stew, fish, with various vegetable choices, salads and deserts (cake normally as well as ice-cream and fruit) dinner was much the same but with more choice, I didn't get bored with the food, there was something everyday that I enjoyed although my eldest had ham and cheese sandwiches breakfast, dinner and tea, but he is very funny about food and is most upset he can't have it every meal at home!
Snacks were ham and cheese toasties (lovely) cheeseburgers, hot dogs and chips. It is not 24-hour snacks although it does state in the brochure. Drinks were all spirits and a very nice local lager called tropical, you get drinks in paper cups (like McDonalds cups) they are rubbish, if you want a glass you have to ask, but if you get there after 7.15pm don't bother. I'd suggest taking one from your room and just filling it from the paper cups.
Staff - all were very friendly, always greeting you with a cheerful smile, the waiter in the adult bar was often drunk though"¦
Entertainment - the FC team are brilliant, Kieran and jenny are so funny, plenty of shows at night in both the Irish bar and the show bar although the adult entertainment and activities in the day could be improved with more choice. We played a few games in the day and got plenty of certificates between us I also got up on stage for some games at night, great fun.. LOL
The bingo is also good, it costs €1 per ticket, but the prize money was €300 for the house on our last night so well worth playing.
Kids club - fantastic! My kids loved it, such a good bunch of girls, my kids did the bugs bunny bash (€8 for 4 hours of peace and quiet! Worth every penny) pj movie and munchies (9pm till 11pm, kids get a film and snacks €1) McDonalds party (€6 kids get a happy meal) they also take them for dinner at 6pm.
The mini disco is good fun, try to learn the moved to king caractucus before you go, your kids will be very impressed, I also joined in with the kids games but the kids rep cheated and got me out.. I'm still sulking now ;o)
All in all a great holiday, not for couples but anyone with younger kids will love it.
I don't think there was much for the older kids to do but they seemed to be happy just 'hanging out'. But be aware that the bar staff don't always look at wrist bands so if your teenager looks older it would be worth watching what drinks they are getting. In fact in the matter of wrist bands I didn't wear mine at all for the second week and was only asked about it once, on the last day and that was in the restaurant
