Hi. Has anybody been to this campsite? It's near Le Bugue. It looks great in the brochures but it would be nice to hear from someone who's actually stayed there. I can't decide between it and Camping Le Peneyrals, near Salignac, which also looks lovely.
Also, can anybody tell me what the weather is typically like in the Dordogne region in June? Thanks.
We have had weather from 40C and hardly any rain, to last year when it rained for about 4 days after we arrived (end of May). We always get at least 2 good weeks of sunshine (we stay for about 3 weeks). It is a great time to visit as it is not too hot and crowded, and it is way cheaper.
Les Pens is good in the low season because they organise evening entertaiment, walks, competitions etc.
Perhaps see you in June.
Le Pens sounds and looks lovely (I have their brochure at home) and it also seems to be closer to the main sights of the Dordogne. I was mainly looking at campsites that have indoor or covered pools in case the weather doesn't live up to expectations. We are planning to go for last week of June/first week of July, so hopefully we will miss the rain!
Any other commments about Le Peneyrals or Saint Avit Loisirs would be welcome. We are bringing kids, ages 14, 8, and 4. Will there be lots to keep them occupied and amused at these sites, and in the area in general?
Our kids are .5, 5 and 10 and have always had a good time. The site if very safe and so we let them go off on their own. There is plenty to do on site and in the surrounding area.
Les Pens has tennis, basket ball, trampoline, football pitch, badminton, fishing.
We go end of May and into June. We have been told that Les Pens gets very busy in the high season, as does the whole of the Dordogne. I think this is mainly August.
Which ever campsite you choose I'm sure you'll have agreat time.
Don't forget about booking directly and getting a Speedferries cheap crossing etc.
Also, what are the must-sees in the Dordogne region? And are there any activities/attractions that would be of interest to children?
Thanks.
