Stayed in Anaxos a few years ago and did not have a bad "Greek" meal at all. There are the restaurants along the beach road and those in the little lanes behind - all were excellent with the exception of a Tex-Mex (the only "international" restaurant in the resort thankfully) which was truly awfull. It was the brainchild of an American/Greek family that had returned to the island and I would be very surprised if it survived the season! The better (and thus pricier) specialist fish restaurants are in Molyvos, which is worth visiting anyway, but all of the Anaxos restaurants will have fish of good quality.

The weather can be changeable this time of year, but you are guaranteed that it will be better than home!

Have a great time - we will return there one day as (so far) it is our favourite Greek island.

Cheers,
Jet

Thanks Jet. :thanks

Iam sure that the weather will be better than here! :sun

I have heard, that you leave your suite cases outside your apartments the night before you are due to leave to be picked up serperately and taken to the airport, and then it is a free for all to find your case.

Is this true :hmmm

The Mermaid Taverna, at Molyvos where there was a sign outside advertising the owners 'famous Lesbian sauce' its down the slope on the waterfront and all the fish there was excellent.

I had the best sardines I've ever had in the Eftalou Taverna at Eftalou nr Anaxos and Molyvos. That was 2 weeks ago.

The weather was roasting hot when we were there, so didn't go far in car, but lots to see if you like driving around. Do try the Taverna Eftalou.

If you are out and about with a car in Lesvos, then try the Medusa restaurant in Skala kalloni. They have their own fishing boat which brings in the fish for the evening but the restaurant is famed for its sardines and particularly the "sardeles pastes" which are a speciality of Skala kalloni. Its right on the harbour front too, overlooking all the fishing boats! Idyllic!!! In August they even hold the Festival of the Sardine in the square!!!
For more info on Lesvos and restaurants and every kind of info Matt Barrett has some good pages on

Skala Sykaminias is very pretty as well, just the other side of Molyvos from Anaxos. Lovely little harbour with 3 or 4 restaurants round it. We sat having lunch and watched the fishermen landing, weighing and selling their catch! You can't get much fresher than that!!
