Falcon holidays group have cancelled all flights to Dalaman from Ireland (Dublin,Shannon & Cork airports) from 4th September next.According to falcon this has been necessary due to a reduction in bookings caused by the "bird flu scare" in Turkey.
We usually travel with the falcon group & feel really let down by this. It would seem from postings on the forum that Marmaris has not been affected by any bird flu scare & people are still taking their holidays there as normal in 2006.
The annoying part is that falcon only decided to cancel flights in early august but surely they must have know earlier in the season that bookings were down & could have warned travellers to give us time to make other arrangements.Haven't they ever heard of having a sale to boost bookings!
Has anyone else been affected? We are trying to rearrange our holiday by contacting the apartments directly (Club Alize) to see if we can make reservations directly. We are also trying to get flights with another operator.
Travel operators get away with this far too easy & simply walk away from the problems they cause by ruining peoples holidays with late cancellations.Sure they are offering refunds but what about our holidays!
Of course we know they "reserve the right" to make all sorts of changes & cancellations in the contracts we travellers have no choice but to sign when making our bookings but it's hardly an example of "assuring you of our best attention at all times" as the cancellation letter we received so hypocritically states!!
Let's vote with our feet & take our business elsewhere I say.
We usually make a few trips a year & will definetly be moving our future holiday bookings to another operator as will all our friends & family.
For those of you who will get to holiday in Marmaris in September please have a cold Efes for the rest of us left down by the falcon group!
Ted.
if you fly dublin cork shannon and knock to birmingham its only about 30 quid then you can fly from there to turkey.
im sure the flights would nearly be conecting
the tour op have us by the short and curlies all the time but rules and regs are very tight if we want to change or cancell anything
hope you get sorted out

I don't think it's bird flu you need to be worried about, it's more the threat of being blown up! There have been around 14 explosions in Turkey since the beginning of the year and the Foreign Office have a whole page of information about travel to Turkey. Here's the link:-
You are supposed to be given 56 days notice of cancellation by the T/O. To make sure of your rights give Ros Fernihough a call on 01922 621114 she is a Travel Law Lawyer and assist our members and often speaks on radio in Ireland.
Wow, Spindles
