like Cardiff aswell but they do need a serious injection of cash but as they say the Spanish owns aren't really bothered by it.. the government so it out.. Cardiff is only 20 minutes down the road from us.
but when we went to Nigeria it was cheaper with mega and flights to go to London Heathrow and fly.. klm from cardiff was 2-300 more from cardiff and change in
amsterdam
I really hope that Cardiff can be saved. It's been a lovely airport, and although it's facilities were limited, you could find everything there
I did watch the programme last night, and must say that the airport did look a bit scruffy. Could do with a bit of a makeover. Hopefully it can be saved however the spanish owner didn't come across as being too bothered.

Patrick Duffy, Managing Director of Cardiff Airport has resigned from his position. This was announced within the last hour by the Commercial Director of Cardiff Airport. Reasons cited so far are the continued criticism of the airport
Or perhaps he has gone for a shower?
It will be a terrible shame if Cardiff is allowed to decline back to just being a "local" airport - as we live pretty close, its possible to be indoors within 1 hour of landing - sometimes @ Gatwick we haven't even collected our luggage an hour after landing!! Can't really understand why the holiday companies say that they can't fill the planes from Cdf - I've never been on a flight which isn't full, or nearly so in the last 20 years.
Vueling expands Cardiff services
Vueling is launching a three times weekly service from Cardiff to Alicante from June 24.
The service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using 150-seat Airbus A319 aircraft.
The flights were originally scheduled to end in the middle of September, but operations will now run to October 27 due to high demand.
From September 16 the Cardiff-Alicante route will switch to Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
New to Cardiff Airport for 2012, Vueling already operates three scheduled flights per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) to Barcelona-El Prat Airport on Airbus A320 aircraft.
On June 24, Vueling will also bolster its route network from Cardiff with services to Palma de Mallorca, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Great news for Cardiff airport, however I've yet to see reasonably priced seats with Vueling, for when I'm able to travel
hi my freind is flying cardiff to newcastle do he need to take his passport ??
Yes he needs a passport or photographic ID.
It depends who he's flying with and what their policy is. Assuming it's Eastern Airways, a passport isn't required (only needed for international travel outside of the UK), but an approved form of identification is. These are listed on Eastern Airlines website.
Darren
thanks guys i have informed him and he is going to just take his passport in case.
Also any idea if any new airlines are interested in operating from Cardiff quite soon ?
Any info would be great,
many thanks, Sam.
Monarch have pulled NCL-SFB & CWL-SFB for next summer due to lack of sales
Terrible news, anything more been said about the new investment plan ?
Just looked at Cardiff airport destinations map- only long haul now shown are Orlando (but via KLM Schipol !!!!) and Barbados (but only 1 Thomson flight end of Jan 2013 !!!) - long gone are the days of direct flights to Dom Rep,Mexico,Orlando,Toronto,Vancouver..........very sad
It's very sad that the airport has gone down hill so much in only a couple of years, Thomson use to base two 757's and a 767-300 in the summer seasons at cardiff, now it's only a 757 and a 737-800, hopefully this new investment plan will take off an transform the airport.
I am still somewhat unsure what this so called "investment plan" plan is for CWL? It is all well and good investing and trying to encourage new operators however it would appear that it is the travelling public who in the main are not supportive to CWL and indeed from what I hear many would prefer to travel across the bridge to save a few pounds and help the coffers of BRS which continues to go from strength to strength. So any new start is already under pressure to reduce fares to a level which may not be viable.
Just been pricing up holidays with Thomson for Greece for September from CWL-awfully expensive - its actually much cheaper for us to drive to B'Ham,stay in a hotel and fly from there!!! With this pricing structure wonder how long it'll be before Thomson drop Cardiff claiming they can't fill planes??
Anyone know what time the Food Village at Cardiff airport opens for a cooked breakfast....we have to be in the airport by 4am
Hi Tangobunny - hope you're keeping well. Have a look here
