Many thanks for that . The flight we are looking at flies out at 1730 on the 18th - So no need for a hotel on the way out - Arrives back in at around 0330am - So could do with one then - But no availability on the 2 hotels we checked

To plan b.... :?

Hiya people

Can anyone rec any cheap off site parking around cardiff airport?? Looking at the last 2 weeks of august

Cheers

Leigh-Anne

There are 2 places you could try, there is the Highway Man [url] http://www.highwaymancarpark.co.uk/

or the is another one at the Old Station at Gileston, but I cant find the number for you.

Both car parks do a shuttle mini bus to the airport 24hrs a day.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that Anthony, i have now booked the Highwayman, albeit through a Airport parking site. I went direct and they wanted £66 and ended up paying £53

Thanks again for the link

Hi,
Travelling from Cardiff for the first time next month . Does anyone know please what time the shops /restaurants (after security checks) open please - we fly out at 8.30 and will need to have breakfast there and possibly buy some food for the journey (depending on current restrictions) as meals are not included on our flight to Florida.. Thanks.

I was at the airport at 6.30am last week and everything was open airside, so I am sure you will be ok. Although saying that there is not much airside, 1 pub that serves hot food and a coffee shop and 2/3 other shops.

You might be better off having your breakfast at the restaurants upstairs before you go through security, as I've never been impressed with whats on offer airside.

Hi,
Thanks for the info-is there a shop like W H Smiths/Boots or similar after security, where we could buy bottles of water, coke etc - which will be open quite early.

Thanks

Yes, there is a shop with a decent selection of books/mags/newspapers and your usual confectionary. Personally, I favour Cardiff airport as it's not too big, yet it has all the essentials to hand. Have a great hol

Thanks Shirley, very useful

At least we can have have plenty to drink (I mean water / soft drinks) before we board.

We can't take any liquid on the flight as we are going to Florida - just hope Monarch will provide us with plenty of free water.

Thanks again and I'm sure we will have a great time!!
(We normall fly out of Gatwick - which is far too big)

Hiya has anyone flown out of Cardiff recently just wondered what shops there are after security as it seems that we cant take a lot in hand luggage due to the current restrictions. Have never flown from cardiff before, we leave on Sunday.

Help please! Has anyone used the executive lounge at Cardiff Airport? One friend said that they could eat and drink as much as they wanted in there but another says that while you can have as many snacks or non alcoholic drinks as you like , you are limited to 2 alcoholic ones. As we have an early flight we will have to have a decent breakfast at the airport so we aren't fussed about the snacks. Three of us don't like flying ( and we're going to Mexico) so we were looking forward to at least 3 or 4 glasses of wine to relax us. We're not sure now if it's worth paying the extra. Thanks

Yes I think two alcholic drinks is the limit in the 51 degree Lounge.

That's what I'd heard, but my sister in law was there a fortnight ago and she said everyone just helped themselves to whatever they wanted. In the 2 hours they were there no one was serving and some even took boxes of pringles etc on the plane with them.

Heathrow airport website has an adverse weather warning, saying flights around the country have been affected and to check with your airline.

We are flying from Cardiff airport next week, anyone had any problems at Cardiff?

Hi Sarong. Don't think Cardiff has suffered because of the weather. We're also flying from there next week. Off to Mexico 1st Aug. Can't wait!

why is that we have an airport within 30 min drive and we cannot fly from it into gatwick we have to get a coach which takes 4 hours come on cardiff sort your self out.

Personally I try to avoid all the London airports like the plague. I prefer to go from Cardiff even if I have to pay slightly more. If we absolutely have to go to London we always go the day before, and just add an extra night to our hols.
