We had a change for our Gatwick flight a while ago- moved from a Sunday TC flight to a Saturday FC flight

We were booked on the Thomas Cook flight on Thursday, November 27th & they changed it to Sunday, November 23rd, which we felt was a bit too early (yes, daft I know) so we changed it to Sunday, November 30th - I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it again though. . . . . . . .

They have altered our Thomas Cook flight on Sunday 16th November to fly at 1255hrs,from Manchester, about 4 hours earlier, arriving Goa at 0400hrs.

We leave Goa at 0600hrs on the monday.

I don't like the Goa times but does anyone care , I doubt it :que :que

But as hemingway says there is plenty of time for a few more changes ???

Are bookings down that much?If so why and interestingly will the Goans be bothered with more Russians now coming.Interested to hear a Goan perspective. For us we have noticed a cost increase for next year so at the moment are not making a decision.I also believe they have yet again done something with the visas although I have not yet bothered investigating and will no doubt get a slapped wrist if I go off topic too much(sorry Fiona).

Hi everyone

I have been told it is because they are not getting enough people on the flights, can anyone confirm that?.

As for more Russians coming, i am not sure, but i have been informed that Finn Air have pulled off there charter flights which were not getting filled and have cancelled them completely sending people elsewhere, when will these people wake up and realize the top brass are cleaning up and it will be the locals left with nothing and after all it is the locals that most people fell in love with as well as Goa it's self.

We think there will be alot more cancelations, merging of flights etc.As for the Tc flight landing at Dabolim at 0400 hours no chance. The airport won't even be open at that time of day. Also if people arrive at that time, the hotels wil be put out,as most people would not even had left their rooms if they are on a later flight. So are people expected to hang around for hours waiting for their room to be ready.

If an aircraft is schedueled to land at 4-00am, the airport will most certainaly be open. It now has clearance to operate 24hrs, except of course when the military are using it, around 8-30am to 1-30pm I think. We landed at 4-30am last March, and made it through in the quickest time ever :)
How the hotels will cope with such early arrivals is another thing

Just got back from the pub, where I was chatting to another couple who've booked as part of a group of 12 going to Goa on Thursday Dec. 4th 2008.

We have had this booked since February, and this couple have informed us that instead of flying direct from Manchester to Dabolim, we'll now be stopping off at Gatwick first. :cry

To add insult to injury, they've altered the flight times by a few hours as well. Apparently, because the change to schedule doesn't exceed 12hrs in total, then we cant claim our money back .... just transfer it to another destination !!!!

Well, thats 4 of us having to transfer, cos my missus and her mate (the other couple) can just about manage one take-off and landing, to do it twice would have them hysterical .... they really are that scared of flying.

Looking like the Canaries again ....... shame, as we had our heart set on returning to Goa. :(

take a look at this thread, it may help. Its a pity if you have to change the whole holiday.

jcbrum ............ we'd booked First choice flights, as anyone will tell you, theyre superior to monarch. Irishcolleen, have you checked your flight number on the FC website to see if it still exists ?? Thats what my mate did and thats how it came about that our flight had been moved to a Thompson aircraft and also diverted via Gatwick. may be worth checking out ??

Fiona .... thanks for taking the time and trouble to provide that link. Its uncanny that it mentions how folk were not bothered by air travel at one time, and then suddenly, out of the blue, they have an overwhelming fear of something terrible happening every time they get on a plane.

My missus has flown lots of times, but only in the last 2 years has she become terrified, and she knows herself that it's irrational, but cannot seem to overcome it. I'll let her have a read of that link you posted, but alas, when it comes down to it, i think she'll still be squeezing the very life out of my hand come take off ........................ wherever we may be taking off to ??!!

Thanks again. :tup

We're booked with Thompson on a Thursday flight from Gatwick with a First Choice flight number, but they are not showing at all on the Thompson website now. First Choice, though, are showing a Thursday flight with a Thompson flight number, I presume we are on that. I have made enquiries with the travel agent, who says its all OK, I was worried our flight was cancelled, but now we don't know whether we are going on Thompson or First Choice flight. I really don't care which one it is as long as I get there.

I know what she is going through. The same thing happened to me a couple of years back. I had no idea why it started. Someone recommeded Bachs rescue remedy spray to me. It really did work and I've since recommended to a friend who has always been petrified of flying and low and behold she has overcome her fear. Anyway, I'll give myself a ticking off for going offtopic :rofl but welcome to HT :)
