Hello all.
I wondered if I could get peoples opinions on what Majorca would be like for a Xmas and New Year destination.
I know it isn't going to be lovely and sunny, but my girlfriend and I are really the sightseeing and walking sort and with a car we'd be quite happy to travel a few thousand miles around the island seeing all there is to see.
However, the concern would be exactly how quiet it is? Are there any restuarants etc actually open so we could eat out each night somewhere different?
Anyone with any resort/hotel recommendations for this period as well?
Thanks in advance.
My husband went out to our apartment in Cala Dor last weekend and the weather was really lovely. During the day, he said you didnt have to wear a shirt it was that warm. However, it was very quiet with very very few restaurants open - just one or two but sometimes thats all you need. He enjoyed the weather and the break - went shopping in Palma which he said was really lovely this time of year. I have friends who went last year on Boxing Day and were in shorts for the days they spent there. Flights are not that plentiful though Easyjet fly every day from Gatwick and some other destinations. It should be relatively cheap too. Dont know about hotels - I do know there is one in Cala Dor thats open but dont know what its called. You may find some apartments availabe to rent over that period.
Hope this helps.
Magalluf and Palma Nova will also have a reasonable amount of places open but I would plump for Palma Town.
Kind Regards
Stewart
Thank you very much for the responses. Very helpful.
On balance, Palma is probably a better bet than most places for Xmas/New Year. I couldn't really recommend the north. Magaluf could be ok, but there will be those who know better than I do where Maga is concerned.
Go and enjoy, we would go again and with air fares as cheap as 70 return its cheap as chips.
If you haven't done so already, perhaps you would like to write a review of your accommodation by clicking on Hotel Reviews at the top of the page. If it isn't listed you can ask for it to be added at the top of the Help & Assistance forum.
