I dont think there is a Dolmus. (not when we were there last year) just taxi's or a very long walk. The taxi boat is very pleasant.
I did see a boat trip collecting people one time from the jetty. Something they must have arranged when booking a trip while in Fethiye
If theres 4 of you jump in a taxi its not worth waiting every 30 minutes for the boat and only 30 allowed on at a time , on the way back we went to the leetonia jetty were you board and it wasnt returning for another hour , so at the side theres a taxi boat who charges 5 euro ea so we didnt want to wait another 1hr and jumped on his boat everyone followed
So it's probably just as cheap (or as expensive depending on how you look at it) to get a taxi? Do you mean water taxis as opposed to land taxis? And do they pick up at the Letoonia side as well?
I know it is a.i. but when/who should you tip and should we use turkish lira/euro/sterling?
What do the shops/market prefer in way of currency??
They have tip boxes everywhere so you can drop something in those or tip individuals as you go. It was sometimes very slow getting served in the bars, so I think it advisable to tip as you go along to get better service. We had intended to leave the tipping until the last day but that changed. I got the impression that they didn't get a great deal of tips as the staff were a bit sullen.
Well just back and couldn't have been more impressed - will post a review soon as I get it sorted. Didn't see any sullen staff at all everyone was very nice and polite. Never went to bar at marina so don't know about down there.... loved it to bits.
We are going in April 2011 last 2 weeks, and not really seen any comments from anyone going at this time, does anyone have any experience of this time and what is open in the resort, ie entertainment, other restaurants etc etc, oooh and weather?
Are there trips to olu deniz? seems daft to go to this resort and not go, which is the cheaper option tho? reps trips tend to be more expensive than in the local town, however coupled with the cost of getting into fethieye perhaps not the best option.
Car hire, (as above) can you get this from the hotel? im wondering if it may be cheaper to hire a car to go to the beach at olu deniz?
Any tips on rooms would be appreciated, we have booked a bungalow, we not that necessarily bothered about steps, but dont want to be ages away from the main bits, we are not bothered about noise from the bar etc, as the kids have an afternoon sleep in order to stay up late on holiday anyway! We normally dont even make our way to the room until at least 1pm anyway, and then no rush to go to sleep!
Sooo looking forward to this trip now, Im just hoping there is enough to keep the kids entertained at this time of the year, although all the 13 yr old needs is the wifi and her Iphone, coupled with the slides in the day clearly.
Thanks in advance for your response.

There is a dolmus from Fethiye to Olu Deniz, to get to Fethiye you may well either need to take the taxi boat (TL10 return per person) or a taxi (around TL40-50 return). There is a dolmus that goes as far as Letoonia from Fethiye, the orange route but not all of them and it is difficult to get details. I would certainly recommend a hire car, we had one for 4 days and found getting around no problem. We used Tiny Akropol (highly recommended on Trip advisor) and were not disappointed. They'll deliver and pick up from the hotel and if you pay in cash (Sterling) you'll get a very good price for a good car, fully insured.
As for rooms, none are too far from the centre really, apart from the "letter" rooms A-K. If you want to be really close, try asking for blocks 43-45, just up the steps/lift from the centre, no issue with noise after 1:00. There is free Wifi in the hotel reception and at the main Agora bar, in fact if you do get one of the closest rooms I wouldn't be surprised if you could connect from your room.
