Hi Pam, we stayed in the Braganza in Dec 04, we booked for the Osborne but when we arrived at the airport they said Osborne was over booked and they put us in the Braganza. The rooms are a good size basic but clean and have two balconies, pool not used much small and in the shade most of the day, location good for centre of Calangute but set back away from main road and noise. You must try Vrundavan for meals towards main calangute beach and steps half way down road on the right in front of bus station. Hope this helps.

Yep great Lesley! Found it!! Thanks very much! Booked a better deal at the Dona Terezinha now! Heard that the Braganza also is very noisy with coach repair place behind it!!

Many thanks! :D

Hi MillyM....we were offered a good deal on this place too for Feb/March this year (enquired about it in January). Don't know what review you have now managed to find...I couldn't come up with anything. Maybe you could post it on here or pm me??? We were told that it can be a bit noisy as it backs onto the bus station...whether this is true of not!! Offered it at £389 for 14th March....but we chose the Dona Terazinha for £10 cheaper in the end!

Hi

The Braganza is not far from the Mira hotel. If you walk down the main street in Calangute it is behind some of the shops up near the second roundabout (The one closest to the beach) It is a very big place but have not really seen much inside it. Some of our friends stayed there last year and loved it. In fact they have recommended it to lots of people. Looks a bit basic and not sure if they have a swimming pool but you are only about 5 mins walk from the beach.

Hi, we stayed in the Braganza in Dec 04 and it is exactly where Shem said it was. The location is good because you are right in the middle of it but just set back far enough away from all the noise.

We actually booked for the Osborne, but when we arrived at airport they said Osborne was overbooked so put us in the Braganza. In alot of ways it did us a favour.

They do have a pool but it is quite small and in the shade so we never used it, we rather go to the beach than stay around the pool. The rooms are big, basic and clean. They have kitchen and sitting area, a fridge and ceiling fan, air con on request.

Can't tell you what the breakfast was like because we didn't bother with it. Our only problem with the hotel was being woken up at seven every morning to the sound of Jingle Bells or Rudolph the red nose reindeer.
I don't think you will have to suffer that.

I am sure you will have a great time as we did, we have only 11 days to go before we are back again in Calangute, can't wait. :D :D

ps. Don't go to the Tibetan restraunt in the air going down towards the beach, that was our worst meal. Go further down on the same side the Vrundavan food excellent.

Sorry its suppose to say air conditioning, don't know what happened there.

Hi All

May I say what a brill website this is, the information is very helpfull, we are making our 5th trip to Goa in only 11 sleeps :D I have read a couple of messages regarding Colonia De Braganza one of them on a different advice website and Im now confuses - not that it takes much- as one saying hotel is near the roundabout nearest the beach in Calangute and the other states that it is near the bus station (nearer the other roundabout) can anyone help?? which are the quietest rooms, etc This is our 3rd trip at this time of year and have requested a/c as it gets more humid as the holiday goes along I have tried to find email address for the hotel but havent had any luck, I wonder if anyone have a rough idea of cost for 2 weeks.

Many thanks

We were there in Dec 04 it is down a side road off the main Calangute road by the cross roads which leads to Baga.

The only noise we suffered from was dogs, crows, cockerals, and Jingle Bells being played at 7am every morning.

Hi Goanadditcr, I am sure you will have a great time and you soon get used to all the noises.

Just a few little tips for you, don't use the taxis outside the hotel they are alot dearer, always walk up to the main road.

Also when you come out of the hotel use the second shop as you go up the road they are excellent and his phone is so cheap to ring home, you may have to sit behind his shop counter if the booth is occupied but that just makes it more fun. We have only 9 days to go, can't wait. :D :D

Hi
We are returning to Goa in Feb for two weeks and have booked to stay at Colonia de Braganza in Calangute.

Has anybody got any information about this accomodation?

ps, booked with Goaway - they managed to beat all other quotes we got by around £100!! well worth giving them a ring!

We have a few reviews here

We stayed there over easter and found it a good base for Calungute. I have written a review but it is on another site (boo hiss!) http://www.holidaysuncovered. com i think it is called.
I had stayed in Candolim on two previous occasions and found I preferred this area. The Colonia de Braganza is down a small side lane from the main Calungute road which leads down to the Beach (near the tibetan market roundabout). We enjoyed waving and saying hello to the workers in the tailors and jewellers on that road. The hotel bar area was always very quiet and We only had a few drinks there. Never bothered with the breakfast and didn't sit by the pool so can't comment there I'm afraid. The room was massive; we were on the top third floor with a bedroom, separate living area and a small sink kind of area plus the shower and toilet. All basic but kept clean and felt safe. The staff were all very friendly. It is a ten minute walk down to the main Calungute beach steps. There are quite a few bars and restaurants within five minutes stroll. The hotel is in a quiet area but near all the hustle and bustle, convenient for taxis and tut tuts going to Candolim or up to Baga and Anjuna. I think you will find the place fine as a base for a brilliant hol.
