Hi , I am thinking of a Turkey holiday in the October half term . As I have never been before I would be grateful if anyone could recommend the following:
1 . The most suitable resort - we would like to be fairly near a resort that's not like Blackpool but has a bit of life i.e shops , nice restaurants a few bars.
2. A good A I hotel as we have 2 teenage children.
3. Which part of Turkey has the best weather in October ( I'm a bit worried it may not be that good at the end of October )
4. Preferably a resort with a nice beach.
5. A resort which is not too far out as we would like to do some sightseeing .
I know its difficult to find somewhere which ticks all the boxes but any advice would be appreciated.
2. A good A I hotel as we have 2 teenage children. Antalya area has the best Ai hotels in Turkey.
3. Which part of Turkey has the best weather in October ( I'm a bit worried it may not be that good at the end of October ) All of the resorts are much the same temperatures, The last 5 years I have been in Icmeler and temperature has hit 39 during daytime nearly all the time.
4. Preferably a resort with a nice beach. Icmeler, Olu deniz, Antalya area.
5, A resort which is not too far out as we would like to do some sightseeing. Icmeler is 8 klm from the much much bigger resort of Marmaris
For the time of year, you are looking at the Antalya region as this is open all winter and so you are looking at the resorts of Belek, Lara Beach and Side. Not having stayed at this end of Turkey, this is as much as I can help you, apart from recommending you look at Holiday Hypermarket to give you an idea of price. The resorts up where we go will be getting to be like ghost towns as they close for winter. All the best.
We didn't find Side too much like Blackpool! There was some quite nice shops (lovely fake bags, and amzing jewellery - one in the hotel is the best priced), and bars just up the road to the right of the hotel. We only went into Side once in a fortnight, prefering to explore the stretch of road, working our way to the town.
We absolutely loved it, and are couting down the days ..... 56 today!!!
icmeler has everything been october weather was lovely great beach lots of lovely resturants bars shops and lots of trips to do you would love it
olu deniz in my opinion is more scenic and the lagoon area is gorgeous, its slightly smaller than icmeler and a bit nearer to the airport, olu deniz has some very good all inclusives, belcekiz beach, olu deniz resort and sun city. but the best place for kids of all ages is lykia world, that is totally fab, teenages are throughly catered for, the food is the best ive ever had in a turkish hotel and there has been many over 26 yrs of visiting it. have a look at the link, its full board +, but worth every penny,19 swimming pools,a water park, fab entertainment, gorgeous surroundings, its own beach, there lots of ways to book this too from package to diy, and theres a thread running now for loads of info

the weather can be unpredictable that time of yr, but you could be lucky and get a week of sunshine, over the yrs when we have gone in oct we have had the odd day of showers and thunder but it hasnt put off us off going that time of yr, the evening can get chilly and a lightweight jacket or cardy may be needed, the difference in temps between that and antalya is only a few degrees
http://www.corneliaresort.com/deluxe/index.html and susesi delux, side has a nice gentrly sloping sandy beach, hemera A/I, http://www.baruthotels.com.tr/default.asp?lang=EN
Melas Resort Ai both include branded spirit, side resort 3km from both of these hotel, arum 5* BB H/B and A/I, Sentido Perissia a thomas cook branded hotel run by the paloma group but this A/I doesn't have branded spirits anymore. There is also the royal dragon hotel colakli 5* A/I it own water park with I think 22 slides and a mini fun fare, near colakli village and I think 9km to 10km from side.

The best weather will be found in the antalya area being the furthest south and the sea is warmer. Belek luxury 5* A/I hotels like the cornelia delux resort Melas Resort Ai both include branded spirit, side resort 3km from both of these hotel, arum 5* BB H/B and A/I, Sentido Perissia a thomas cook branded hotel run by the paloma group but this A/I doesn't have branded spirits anymore.
