I now am unable to go on holiday this year as all the prices have increased and I lost my free child place.
I was offered a transfer to kos or kefalonia aqua beach club which would cost an additional £2000.00. of which they very kindly offered to pay half.
When we looked at this option and checked out flight time ect-Guess what they didn't have any availability, so another empty promise from First Choice.
If you have problems getting a refund you can quote me, if you let me have your details i will forward booking references ect to prove that it has and can be done.
Good Luck
I booked this holiday in sept 05 after giving fc a second chance as the last holiday we had with them was dissapointing. only by seeing this site did we know that the place was not built nor do they have planning permission and i quote "We do not have planning permission as yet but we hope to get it in the next few weeks" i have contacted fc customer services who denied the above i then contacted the md's mr blastland's pa and she directed me to the directors office. four days later i am waiting for a outcome dispite further phone calls from myself. i have given them till monday 23rd to give mwe a full refund of my deposet (£800) or i will be getting legal advice and contacting watchdog. please please never book a holiday without reseaching the resort prior to booking. holiday companies should not be able to take bookings on unbuilt properties. if i cancel now knowing that there will not be a appt for me they will not refund my deposit.
There are pictures as well

After a bit of persuading the finally agreed to give it me for the same price.
The annoying thing is the fact we were already booked into the kefalonia before being advised that there was no kids club so we should move to corfu :S. Now the decided to have a kids club at keflonia
The original holiday in a standard room was 400 pounds less than i have finally paid for the same hotel, just a better room.
Not sure if this makes me a loser or a winner in the situation.
At least we should get a nice holiday now though.
I cancelled completely with first choice redeemed my travel insurance with my agent and went through thomsons online and i'm off self catering to apartments in Sidari(excellent place, was there in 2000) on the 30th June. First Choice will never get a penny of the £100,000 i will spend on holidays in the next couple of decades. All in Corfu who have been so nice in supplying us with info come to the Spiros apts in sidari any time after the 30th June 2006 for a fortnight. It's my round and i owe you all a drink or 5 for your honesty and support. Stand at the pool and shout 'hey joe', i'll be there!. Thanks again.
we travel on the 14 july we have been offered to transfer but they will not give us a free child place as most have already gone, they have had my booking since may 4 but that means nothing to first choice. looks like we will see you there, if anybody else is still going, if not at least we will get a sun bed
Hi azlar, regarding your booking of the Kefalonia Aqua Beach Club, Do you know how far the construction of this hotel is doing? My parents were there in the resort in September 2005 and nothing had been built there. The local reps were saying that it will never be ready for the 2006 season!!! Dont want to alarm you but I think you should check up on the build progress.
I was told when trying to change my holiday that the other two Aqua Beach Clubs kos and kefalonia were running ahead of schedule and would open on time. Although this was the same travel agent that didn't know the corfu club was not yet started!

It is this level of progress that is worrying those booked into the Corfu Aqua Beach Club as there has been no building activity whatsoever on the Corfu site due to what is believed to be legal issues / irregularities in the planning application.

I have just spoken to FC and was told that they are expecting a report from their directors within the next couple of days as to the state of play for all 2006 bookings to the Aqua beach, Corfu. Personally I think it sounds like they are going to pull the plug on it altogether. I was told that they would contact clients when they have details.
hi hate to be the bearer of bad news but f. c have stated that the hotel will not be open this year at all so ring today to change
they are trying to say i have to have vouchers in return but as i will never go anywhere with fc again vouchers would be of no use. fc are now transfering people booked on this holiday in july and aug to a alternative location but the place they r offering is just leftovers. watch where they send you!!!!!!!! DEMAND your money back. all for now.
Contrary to what I said in my previous post, we went to Thomas Cook where the holiday is actually being booked through, they were on the phone to FC whilst we were there and they confirmed again that they are still going ahead with the holiday being built in time, however looking at recent posts this has changed once again! Think its gonna be time to pull the plug and go and see them and demand a little more info, anyone that has been offered a full refund etc and would be willing to share information as to what you have been offered would be much appreciated so that I can go to them with that,
Any info to ****

After reading this discussion for some time and been told on the telephone by FC that everything would be ok, I eventually wrote to them to ask what their intentions were regarding the Corfu Aqua Beach Club. I recieved a non personalized, undated letter in reply to tell me that they have decided not to continue with the build for 2006 and offered me alternative accomodation at the Blue Bay Escape. I have told them that I don't want to go there and have asked for my money back. I'll let you all know how I go on!
However, it shows an appalling lack of customer service when they haven't bothered to tell you that the resort will not be built and only do so when you write them a letter on the subject.
Anybody that knows the area well suspected this outcome as it is known that they are a number of problems including legal issues to overcome. It's only a shame that the tour operator did not come clean alot sooner.
If anyone has a problem with travel complaints then I would suggest they contact Ros Fernihough. She is a travel law solicitor who assists our members and will give you free advice regarding your legal standing regarding any complaints.
At last an end to the uncertainty of my July holiday - after writing to tell them that I was not happy with the alternative accomodation they had offered me, I have been given a full refund. I have to say that only writing to them seemed to kick start any dialect regarding the state of play on this hotel. I am just wondering whether everyone else has now recieved this same letter or whether others are still awaiting an explanation!
