This forum's been a bit quiet lately, hasn't it?

I've booked now for me, the missus, 7 yr old daughter, plus old friend and her 18 yr old daughter to go to Croatia at the end of May for 10 nights.

. flying Ryanair Stansted - Trieste
. renting a car and driving to Porec
. 10 nts in a luxury (?) tents at Bijela Uvala, booked through Vacansoleil

I've looked through all the posts on this forum, at other discussion websites and Googled till my fingers bled. I've gathered a certain amount of info about the weather, campsite, resort, restaurants and the surroundings, and it sounds pretty good.

Anyone out there got any personal experiences of the above they'd like to share?

(really looking forward to it & wanting to share the excitement :D )

Hi Mike

I think we averaged between £30 and £40 for the 2 of us for our evening meal- that's for 2 courses, drinks, etc. As with most places, it's possible to go cheaper or more expensive but most places had a pretty standard menu.

Bonnielassie...You spoke of the lovely yachts at Trogir.Did you go on any?

No Jopa, you were not allowed on them they were privately owned. One side on Trogair was were the smaller ones berthed and we overheard an American couple saying they have been on their boat for five years and were planning to stay for another 5 years just crusing along, they keep in touch with their family by the internet.

The other side were privately owned cruise ships and they were a sight to see it was seeing how the other half lived, we saw in the three days we stayed there about 7 different ones berthing one was bigger than the other with their own staff and seeing them having dinner on deck.

Lovely memories

:) Hi Linda...What I wouldn't give to have a life like that!!!
Have been on the Turkish Gulet Boats and love them.
Looking for the same sort of thing in other Countries now.
I know one Tour Co. that has the "Old Timer" Boat near Dubrovnik but it's pretty expensive.
Have checked out Thailand for small boat cruises but they only seem to do a few days at a time...Keep searching Jopa
Thanks for your info anyway.
Yours Aye, Jopa.

Hi Andy

I missed this one!

Well we have booked to go to the Park Hotel Rovinj in July.

Haven't ever been to Croatia before, but from what I've read up about it, Rovinj looks like a beautiful place. Im sure the islands will be peaceful and I don't think the ferries are expensive. We're really looking forward to going there. Presumably you enjoyed Brela?

Have you seen these websites about Rovinj?

Hi

thanks for the reply.
The Park looks nice too,we nearly booked there and there are some great comments on the net about the hotel.

You will love Croatia,Brela last year was our first time and we are now hooked. Its got it all the best of Greece and Italy combined.Very affordable , beautiful and varied.Greece and Turkey just got too expensive and Croatia has that value for money.

We will be there from July 15th.Hoping to do Venice whilst there.
Hope you have a great time too!

Andy

ps yes, ive seen those websites before...they wet the appetite dont they!!!

We're mulling over Dubrovnik this year and looking for somewhere central and reasonably priced. Don't mind B&B

Not a modern chicken coop type of hotel but somewhere with a bit of local flavour.

Can any one recommend something please and also tell me a bit more about the place.

I think prices in Dubrovnik town were similar to Cavtat, where we stayed last year - we payed 30- to 40 euros for 2 people, for 2 courses plus drinks. We found our accommodation from this site which has loads (look under private accommodation for b&bs and apartments):

Cavtat is also a good place to stay and a boat or bus ride away - or visit it from Dubrovnik if you stay there.

I've booked via this company, seem very reasonable. We are going via Dubrovnik and 7 days hire of Fortd Ka is just £130.

Hope the link works ok. https://www.economycarrentals.com/default.asp
if not just copy and paste into address bar.

Good Luck
