Is it just me or are other member having problems? Since Friday, I have had lots of problems logging in! More concerning is that in my email inbox, I receive notification of say 4 private messages but when I go to my inbox there is only one!!!
some days i can get no e mails at all but there are 1 or 2 extra pages in the thread.
It also keeps removing the thread from my watched list
i'd be lost without my daily fix of HT

Who was the lucky person to be disturbed by the captain and five stewards? This year, at 2am on New |Year's Eve, in a very rough Caribbean, I was woken by the Captain on the tannoy telling us that the engines had stopped and the lights had gone out! (That was the QE2.) Thank goodness, I never travel without a torch and fresh batteries!
Thankyou to those who gave reports on the Melody. It seems a good cruise so I am looking forward to it - when I get my tickets for the 30th May. At least I have my BA flight paper tickets. I am surprised that no-one else seems to be travelling BA. The food looks good but I am already overweight but who cares (apart from the doctor).
Can anyone tell me how many formal evenings there are, please? I like to have the chance to "dress up" and usuallyt wear a long dress regardless but there are evening dresses and evening dresses if you know what I mean. At the moment, I have a good collection of Jacques Vert from TK Max. There is a great collection in the Salisbury shop.
Sorry this is rather long. Blame it on Juro's wine tanker!

hello all. Been to town today, ordered a badge with my screen name ,Nic of Floeeohy "ship ahoy" as it seemed we were flogging dead horses some time ago. I shall wear it to to Airport terminal, so if Rosie Price and partner . May and whoever else is going on the 18th June flight to Genoa, departing Standstead around 7 30 in the morning , and so on would .like to say hello they will know me.I shall probably be at the cafe.I have been searching for a very light bag, but ended up with more clothes Arghhhhhhh such is life best regards to all Floeeohy ,
On Melody there are two casual evenings, three formal and two gala. Most people were fairly smart on all evenings but the two gala evenings were the most dressy:
Monday - Casual
Tuesday - Formal
Wednesday - Captains Cocktail and Gala Meal
Thursday - Formal
Friday - Formal
Saturday - Gala Night
Sunday - Casual
The mix seemed to be about 50/50 who really dressed up and it wasn't enforced. The daily program said for men shirt and tie counted as formal and to put a jacket on for the gala, but there were a lot of men without jackets.
The cocktail party is the meet the captain bit where you had to queue up to get you photo taken with Captain "StifferUpperLipper" followed by free drinks for about an hour (we wore Tux). The Final Gala night is the thank the staff and chefs one and we wore suits. I just wore shirts for the formal which was fine. The DE Ladies all looked very glammed up especially on Gala nights (Jan, Cyndy, Janice, Helen and "Phil" all looked great)
I agree it was nice to dress up, but if any of the men don't have suits and tux then shirt and tie would have been fine. The Brits seemed the smartest I have to say. On the first Gala night I saw some Italians wore tracksuits or jeans (so much for Dolce and Gabana and Prada!).
One good thing about the Melody was that it was quite relaxed and I don't think there was anyone turned away on Galas. There was some limited room service (sandwiches and salads only at extra cost) and midnight buffets if people didn't want to dress up for the Galas. The only restaurant open in the evening was the main one, except on Ibiza night when there is only one sitting or a bbq on the terrace. Those who did the restaurant on that night wish they hadn't, it was noisy and bad food and service. We opted for the bbq which was a lot quieter.
The food on both Gala nights was especially good (Scarlet printed the menu in a previous posting) I won't spoil things for people on the last night but the waiters put on quite a show.
Hope that clears up the dressing up bit.
Buster (Paul)
Just a quick hello from Athens.
Everything is going smoothly and enjoying the trip very much.
Was upgraded to deck 10 and I am nice and handy for an early morning coffee and a quick snack.
Have met up with another 3 DE cruisers and one HT member, Owen.
All the DE cruisers had to fight hard for this cruise ,but one had no trouble at all.
Have not been reading any of the posts so don't know if the situation with cruise allocations has changed since I left.
Well I must be off now , have a lot of exploring to do .
W ill post a report when I return and hope to answer any questions that I can.
Andy.
Thanks for posting Andy, it's much appreciated when there is so much else to do. Look forward to your review on your return.
cheers andy, glad your having a great time. I must ask as a matter of urgency, can you take drink on baord in the hand luggage or do they take it off you
I think you will be OK taking alcohol onboard as long as you don't advertise the fact and the bottles don't rattle!
I was under the impression that other people had also posted on the Melody but so far I haven't been able to find anything. Am I looking in the wrong place or haven't the others got round to it yet. I, and no doubt many others, are anxious to know about the excursions - were they good value, exhausting, rip-offs, etc. All contributions will be gratefully received.
Has no-one mentioned CunardQueens cabin party yet
He sneeked in a few bottles of bubbly without being noticed. Yes, we did all enjoy it thank you He also robbed some nibbles off the waiters, very professional you know Can't imagine where he got the champagne glasses from! Think there were about 10 of us in there. Not that that's a challenge for anyone to beat or anything ......
Scarlet.
Cabin party I think we need to hear more.....
