Maggie,
But that was what Rise/MKM thought they could do and it turned out that all us DE readers were tight-wads!!
DE have just got to bite the bullet and get the cheapest price by bulk purchase/charter if they are going to fulfill their obligations.
No juicy upgrades amongst us lot any more!
I did ask about 2 4 1 but they didn't even give me a price. I do think that is why I was allocated the Caribbean as they thought they could make loadsa money out of me taking my husband. Plus the letter said how long the flights were to tempt us into adding on extra days.
Just got back from my extended break with the Melody in the middle!
Whay can I say?? Brilliant!!
Will write a review later, but need to get some clothes washed before work tomorrow or !'ll be sacked.
Some tips:
No need to dress too formally on gala nights - some foreigners didn't bother at all but it looks nice on the photos!
Food and drink plentiful
Ayesha lovely
Some trips well worth doing others not so
Give the puppets a miss!!
A great £10 worth (well a lot more than that by the time I'd finished spending I admit!)
Pat
for those of you on the melody that are not watching the 4/7 posts (there must be at least one of you arround!) just put some pics and stuff on a web site
Back from my wonderful week on Melody. I just want to echo everything that has been said about the cruise. Brilliant!!!!!!! To those still waiting don,t give up and keep pushing it will be worth it.
Looking forward to hearing all about it when you are sorted!
How did your alternative travel arrangements work out Pat?
Alli
They worked fine thanks Alli except for a brief trauma when a lightening strike was called for the day I was due to come home (today). This was cancelled yesterday afternoon and my poor hubby was fielding e mails from Ryanair and ringing me in Pisa with the content! Still all's well that ends well and I have had a great time both on the Melody and in Genoa and Pisa. It might have cost me more tham £10 in the end but it was worth every penny!
Thank you for all the messages of goodwill to Dad.
Just a quick note to let you know my Dad is very upset that people are being fobbed off by the hurricane excuse again ! he says in all his experiance he has not known them to start so early in the season, (he was on cruise ships for over 20 years).
He does hope that you fight on and do insist on the holiday you were all promised "A £10 Cruise for every reader", as he pointed out the porn king who now owns the DE paid himself over £2million last year so he could bail out the readers of his newspaper, personally.
I have just been told to say that the 'Balcony Cruise' has been taken over by P.O. and the Auroa will take all cruisers around Southamton Water for a 130 day World trip, (We hope this makes sense, we know a lady named Ruth, who was booked on the Cruise- who is going on the next World Cruise, again with P & O).
I have printed off all the pages 150 to 163 so Dad can read them in his own time, We are off to Holland, on Monday, so he will have bags of time, for reading.
Kate & Pat
We are off to Holland, on Monday,
Is this a good idea to take Phil, with his natural affinity for standing water, to a place which is below sea-level????
The Dykes are getting bigger........do not let him wear clogs!!.......Please keep him on a tight rein and wearing those armbands at all times!
Have agreat time!
Thank you for keeping us informed about your Dad girls! Best wishes for his speedy recovery!
glad to hear your dad is making progress, lots of bike riding in holland as long as he does'nt do too much. vivien.
Just read your message, and will print them off so Dad can read them over his breakfast.
This site does mean a lot to him. Thank you to all of you.
Pat
Hope you have a good time in Holland. Just don't let your Dad near the red light district in Amsterdam! He needs to save energy ready for his cruise.
well my review of the Armonia 3/7 is finally done, I've tried not to duplicate what others have said too much, and it does go on a bit. I had a fantastic time, I found the ship and staff faultless.
I just heard from Maureen (MEH) who is currently sailing on the QE2. She spotted Sinfonia on her travels and has had many sightings of the ubiquitous orange ship!
There are many pickpockets operating in Florence and also in Pisa.
I nearly had my purse stolen by a child being carried by a gypsy woman. The things they teach kids nowadays!
I have send a couple of P.M.'s but they have gone astray. Anyway, to answer your question. Yes I was able to take the cigarettes straight from the duty free shop at Malta onto the ship. I could have bought more if I'd wanted to. No problem. Also on the Melody you could buy cigs & alcohol and take it back to your cabin - no leaving it till the last night.
Thank you for that and sorry about the disappearing PMs. I have reported both to Van!
On Armonia, we were not allowed to get any alcohol there and then and it seems to be the only ship that has this policy, very strange! You could get cigarettes but since I only bought 1 carton, I have no idea if they allow more than that!
Thanks for all the information Lesley!
Is Dubrovnic EU perhaps we could have it if Dubrovnic isnt EU.?
Croatia isn't in the EU yet so the usual DF rules apply!
