My court claim with The Daily Express is progressing, they have entered their defence which seems to be the same as other members on here.

I don't suppose anyone knows the date that The Daily Express MD went on Watchdog a few years ago and said yes there had been problems, but be patient and everyone that applied for a cruise would get one?.

If anyone who has gone through this process could PM me with any additional info that would be great.

Merry Christmas eveyone.

Hi energyuk

Now that the Search facility is working I have found that it was broadcast on Tuesday, 6 February 2007.

It was also featured on "Don't Get Done Get Dom". You will find all mention of it using the Search facility.

Hopefully here are the T & Cs for the DE £10 cruise offer.

DAILY EXPRESS £10 CRUISE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. All promotional instructions form part of the terms and conditions.
2. Offers open to UK residents aged 18 or over.
3. 40 tokens, plus 2 bonus starter tokens, will be printed in the Daily Express, Sunday Express, Scottish Daily Express and Scottish Sunday Express from May 15 2004 to June 25 2004.
4. You choose which option to collect for and send the required tokens with a correctly completed application form and a SAE to the address shown on the form.
5. Applications must be received at the named address no later than July 2 2004. There is no limit to the amount of applications per household but strictly one application per envelope, per person/booking. Applicants who wish to travel together may not be offered the same cruise/destination or the same date.
6. Only original differently numbered tokens may be used. No responsibility will be accepted for illegible applications or those lost in the post. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt. Applications sent in without a SAE or received after the closing date will not be processed.
7. You will be requested to prioritise your months of travel in order of preference. Every effort will be made to allocate one of your preferred dates but there is no guarantee of this. You may be offered alternative destinations and/or dates. You are advised to be flexible in your requirements as many cruises travel only at certain times of the year and particular destinations and dates can have limited liability. All cruises are subject to promotional availability.
8. You will be offered the option to upgrade into a different type of cabin and, with some destinations, to extend your cruise.
9. Following receipt of your application form, you will receive a confirmation letter from Rise Travel by August 2 2004, which details your allocated cruise. This will be valid for a specified travel period and will include a travel voucher. This voucher must be completed no later than 10 days from its receipt. Please note that your first preferred date of travel must be 45 days after the date your voucher is received by Rise Travel. Your voucher will then be checked and you will be contacted within 31 days to confirm your application details and proceed with your booking. Do not contact Express Newspapers as the bookings are handled only by Rise Travel.
10. Flights are included within Option 1 & Option3. Travel to the cruise departure points is not included with Option 2 but you can purchase flights from Rise Travel, at competitive rates. However, there is no obligation to do so. Flights for all three options will be available from London Heathrow/Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow/Prestwick. Regional departures will be available where applicable and will incur a supplement. Readers in Ireland may pay a supplement of £60 per person for air travel from Dublin/Belfast to London.
11. Readers are responsible for ensuring they have a full and valid passport and for arranging and paying for any necessary visas.
12. As with all cruise holidays, there are fewer single cabins than double cabins available per cruise but as long as you are prepared to be flexible with your dates of travel, MKM/Rise Travel will honour all bookings.
13. Rise Travel will contact you regarding your booking between August 3 and October 31 2004 inclusive. Travel must be made between September 1 2004 and May 30 2005 inclusive. MKM and Rise Travel may extend this travel period in order to meet demand. All bookings are subject to availability in respect of readers' preferred travel dates. Travel during the Christmas, New Year and Bank Holiday periods are excluded. Some destinations have special events at certain times of the year and travel during these periods may be limited. Some sailings are at specified times of the year only. A Saturday night stay for all travel is required.
14. All readers booking Option 1 will be charged £10. All payments may be by debit or credit card. Credit card payments incur a two percent surcharge.
15. Travel vouchers and bookings are issued by our designated booking agent, Rise Travel (IATA 91271795 and ATOL 5611).
16. Rise Travel reserves the right to offer additional cruise itineraries and destinations as appropriate.
17. MKM/Rise Travel reserves the right to use cruise operators and airlines of their choice. Cruise operators used (but not limited to) are Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Lines, MSC, Costa Cruises, Marco Polo and Thomson Cruise Lines. Rise Travel may offer additional cruise itineraries and destinations as appropriate.
18. In the unlikely event of limited availability for the stated offers, all qualifying readers will be offered cruises or flights of equal or greater value to the offers stated.
19. No cancellations or amendments are possible after confirmation of booking.
20. Usual terms and conditions of special fare IATA tickets apply to any flight booking. A copy of these may be requested by writing to MKM at Nelson House, Park Road, Timperley, Altrincham, WA14 5AB.
21. Insurance is essential for travellers' own peace of mind and protection. Rise Travel will be pleased to assist with your requirements and optional comprehensive travel insurance is available from as little as £4.25 per day. Simply tick the box on the application form and Rise Travel will advise of the best available rates. If you opt to arrange your own insurance, details of valid/adequate insurance must be supplied at time of booking confirmation or an indemnity form signed and returned.
22. There is no cash alternative to any of the offers and vouchers are not transferable and cannot be resold or used with other tokens/promotions.
23. The Promoter, MKM and Rise Travel cannot be held responsible for any alterations to flight schedules, cruise schedules, routes and destinations and reserve the right to use other suppliers. We reserve the right to withdraw these offers without notice.
24. The promotion is administered on behalf of the Promoter, Express Newspapers, Ludgate House, 245 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 9UX by MKM Marketing & Promotions Ltd, Nelson House, Park Road, Timperley, Altrincham, WA14 5AB.

Bucca,
Hang on in there and don't give up, whatever you do!!!! It seems to me that in the event of over subscription clause 18 (my last posting!) should apply!

How wonderful to see some old faces, Aslemma, Tony W and of course our information whiz kid Peter A.

Luci, is Van back at the helm?

Seasons greetings to everyone, staff, volunteers and members alike!

Happy New Year to everyone. Nice to see you here Magsy and other good friends (notice I didn't say 'old'). All those still fighting for their cruises mustn't give up. We are all with you in spirit and I'm sure you'll get there in the end as I doubt the DE really has a leg to stand on, but they are obviously trying to string things out as long as possible in the hope of wearing you down - they will eventually realise that at least those on here are made of stronger stuff.

Luci, can you help again please by telling me where I go to vote for my favourite unbiased holiday forum????????? I am quite sure a lot of others will want to join me in voting!

Not sure what you mean Magsy? If you mean the BT Excellence Awards a month or so ago, we didn't make it past the nominations. :(

I don't know where else there is voting going on.

Happy New Year Magsy!

Hi there still active as ever. Hope that you had a good holiday season. Me I'm off to Ireland on the 8th January and then 27th February to NY for the QM2 Caribbean.
Thinking about the 19 night BTB T/A plus New England QM2 which has a fair single occupancy. Date September.

Hope all of you out there who are still hanging in for your DE cruise can have it this year and end this farce they created. I admire all of you for being persistant!! This is the only language they understand so hold firm!

Hi Sue, Happy New Year to you too! Busy busy as ever I see!

How much is a reasonable single on the BTB cruise?
Reply
Magsy I don't know what they would quote right now for the BTB QM. Last July I got a BTB for £1200 in a Grade D4 inside room on deck 6. I though this was a good deal but I have not seen anything at the moment to rival this.

Nice to see you on here Tony. Hope you and Julie are keeping well and that she's managing to keep you out of mischief! I'm back in Sousse next month and in Tunis for a weekend in May for a wedding - I'll try not to fall flat on my face in the Medina this time.

This thread has gone a bit quiet. I thought that someone may have been offered a cuise for May onwards by now. Maybe the DE have decided to fight the remaining claimants in court. Anyone actually been to court yet?
Reply
It does seem to go quiet when mentioned if any one has been to court, could this be a terminal process? which worries me, as I am about to plead my case in a few weeks time, and am aprehensive, as not knowing what level these people could resort to,if I win or lose you will be informed,in the meantime apart from section 18,a cruise to every reader, and the various watch dog inquiries,is there anything of importance I should present to the district judge, regards
bucca.
