hello all.
i have just started reading all your post (took awhile :P).

i have a few question i would like to ask, any help would be much appreciated.

we will be booking 2 weeks for the 23rd of sept. 2 adults, 4 kids (16,13,8,5). hotel Dar Khayam. all inclusive.

1. weather in sep/oct, does it get cold at night/evening. do we need any warm clothing.
2. what to expect for this hotel, good and bad.
3. clothing for my wife and 13 yr old daughter. do they need to be covered up when we go out side the hotel. would a T-shirt and short do?
4. any items we might need to take. (already noted the tips from the other guys who have gone there, T.V arial lead, ketchup, snorkling gear.)

i have been to tunisia before but a long time ago, 1985ish, stayed at the sahara beach hotel. it was a lot different to what it is now lol. when we went the 3rd block of rooms had the corner blowned away by a bomber :s .
i think it has changed alot since that time. but any new info would be much appreciated . thanks in advance.

sorry missed one thing i wanted to ask.
we have some euro's ( about 400 ) would we be able to change these into dinar's when we get there ?

Driztt - I don't know about the hotel itself but can answer some of your questions.

Firstly, you can certainly change euros as easily as sterling. If I have any I usually change them into dinars at the airport though you can do so at any bank or even at your hotel. You may like to print off a currency cheat sheet from here before you go.

Weather should be ideal in September/early October, as it will still be hot but not as hot as in July or August. You certainly shouldn't need warm clothes but may like to take a light jacket or cardigan.

There is no need for ladies to cover up outside the hotel n Tunisia, though it is a moslem country and bare midriffs and very short skirts/shorts etc. will cause some unwelcome attention. Generally speaking, if you would not wear it in your local Tescos it is best avoided, except for on the beach. In more untouristy places (the Sahara for example) people are less sophisticated and it is best for both men and women to cover up more. In mosques or any religious places shoulders and knees should be covered.

Take tea bags as although you can sometimes get a good cup of tea it isn't guaranteed. Chemists are excellent and speak very good English but it is worth taking the usual kit - paracetamol, plasters, Savlon, immodium etc. I also take Anthisan cream for any gnat bitetes.

Gloryboy - I don't think you'll have a problem changing £5 notes but most places won't change coins of any denomination. You can give a pound coin as a tip when you first get there if you haven't any dinars.

thank you aslemma for the heads up.
we all very excited now, booking tomorow :D
any one else going around the 23rd of sep ?

Shan't be out again until October and won't book until flight prices drop nearer the time, but I'm still wasting far too much time checking regularly.
Incidentally you have to use sterling or euros in the bar at the airport as generally speaking they don't accept dinars once you get airside, though I seem to remember a couple of bars/cafes landside will accept them.
