We are having real problems choosing a destination for July next year. We thought we had sorted it out and planned on Borneo but looking at the rainfall, which is quite substantial all year round, we are having second thoughts. I have trawled through the on line brochures but am not getting very far. Can anyone recommend something. Here is the basic criteria. Somewhere where snorkelling and diving are good (we are getting our PADI this year so this is a definite), very sunny and not much rain as we are also sun worshipers, 5* hotel, waking distance to restaurants etc - not keen on AI but would do it for the right resort with a good choice of restaurants on site. It seems an impossible task but it is my husbands 40th so wanted something a bit special.
Many many thanks to anyone with any ideas
Trish

for the diving centre at Lykia World. Its a 4* (they say 5* but its not really) which has 8 on site restaurants and every conceivable sport. The weather is reliably hot in July. Here is the hotel's website

We've been going here for years and are very fussy.

diving is good in Thailand too apparantly ( i am not a diver.. i am the surface person.. but the water looks pretty clear!)
While we were at the Conrad in Sharm, one couple told us they used to go to the Great Barrier Reef but since going to the Conrad return every year as it is better. I obviously can't cooment on the truth of the fact other than to say that snorkelling in the water of the jetty at the Conrad was like swimming in a very big tropical fish tank. Sort of spoilt it for us now..
Thanks everybody for your reccomendations. I will make some more enquiries.
