Hi Lilly
We were out there last week, staying at same place as you.
We watched the England/Sweeden game at a great place called " George n Dragon" was a fantastic atmosphere,,, mostly English fans but ONE very brave Sweed in his shirt... was a fabby atmosphere
The food there was really good,,, the huge mixed grill will satisfy even the biggest appitites.
Turn right out of your apartments,, to end of street and Right again.. along there about 500 yards is the George n Dragon.
Just remember.. you'll be allright if you keep turning right
Have a great trip,, and let us know how you got on

I visited Turkey in May and did the 2-day trip to Ephesus and Pamulkale. It was great value for money (about £50) from Marmaris.
Hi Jay&Nige, We often visit the George and Dragon(If it's the one up the street form The Puppy Pub and Mr Cook's) after staying in the aparts next door years ago. The owner initially named it a Turkish name and couldn't understand why no British were going in until a visiting British couple suggested he named it The George and Dragon and the business boomed and he also owns a restaurant on the beach now.
We have just returned and watched all the England matches in the beach bars, mostly in Baran. The atmosphere is brilliant, big screen tvs, flags, banners, England songs, some staff had their England shirts on and were diving all over when we scored, great fun
i used this bar quite alot and told 1 of the barman by the name of SULEYMAN
that i would send him a old mobile phone, but i have lost his address.
so im wondering if i could send it to someone in this country who would deliever this to him.
any help would be good.
thanks gazza.
Gazza, if you dont get any people going sooner i am out there in 7 weeks. However there has been a change to the way UK mobiles operate in Turkey - They will work for upto 3 months and then the network will block them - Only way you can get round it is registering them with customs at dalaman on arrival and paying around 30ytl - you also have to supply the receipt with the IMEI on it. These measure was introduced to stop people taking over phones that had been blocked(stolen & reported) in other countries
thanks
not sure about the queen vic but basils has gone
carnt believe basils has gone, it was always very lively, i thought he had apartments and supermarkets near his bar? quite the business man
he still has his apartments - we are staying there in august - i believe there was a problem with his bar due to the fact it was under a residential property or something like that - it appears quite a few places have gone - the apollon being another one (but the aussie bar is still there!!)
where is the Aussie bar?? has basil got another bar?
the aussie bar is just round the corner from basils old place - opposite the entrance to the kocer - as far as i know basil hasn't got anything else - the link to his bar/restaurant has gone from his website
this is a combined questions and every ones answers will be diffrent ok
here goes,
where does it for you and your family in marmaris and has been one of your best night in turkey where you turned around and said what a night and its costs buttons.......
Just got back from Marmaris this morning and I'm feeling depressed
- Late checkouts - rough cost to keep a room for a few more hours?
- Nightlife - maybe a stupid question but what's it like the 20somethings?
- Currency - cash or travellers cheques? also is it best to get it before or when you're there?
- Restaurants - any good "fine dining" establishments?
- Transfers - coach transfer with portland how long does this take?
Any replies would be appreciated
nightlife - bar street great for your age group!
currency - cash most definitely! get charged alot of commission to change travellers cheques
restaurants - some really romatic nice places in the marina (up near bar street)
transfers - can take anything between 1½ and 2½ hours - we always have a taxi!
have fun

late check out was £20 in the candan
night life bar street is a rip off try the opposite end ie when looking at the water turn right a keep going
moneyget a nationwide debit account do it online takes about 2 weeks either that or take stirling.
with nationwide there are no charges and rate is the same or better than anywhere on the streets of marmaris.
the candan is a really good hotel.
