marlabear, when you off?
maria
Were off to marmaris next August. We have never been for a few years,Just wondering if there is any big changes in the place,And is it still responsibly priced.(cant wait )
Prices are reasonable but if you have not been for a few years then you may notice the difference. Markets and shops are still great for bargains.
The main change that has happened is a lot of places have been closed/pulled down by the new Mayor. So any fav restaurants or bars you had last time might not be there or have been relocated.
Loulou
You couldn't tell me if the bars ,and restaurants near the kocer club ,,and the nergis are the ones knocked down,Also could you tell me if the bars ,and restaurants on the sea front still open (or have those been knocked down).
Loulou.
Hellloooooooooooooooooooooooooo from the Northeast.
There are loads that have have gone, i dont usually eat/go out around the kocer area but im sure i remember Alizda (from HT) saying that Basils had closed, whether he has just relocated or not i dont know. One of the beach bars that went is appollen right next door to baran bar.Others will be able to tell you better whats still there.
loulou
You will see a difference for sure. Mostly for the better in my opinion although I accept that some old favourates are gone. The Taj Mahal has been re-built and looks brilliant. Was the Point (Gima) there when you were last there, it's a lovely place. Down the front, Daisy Bar has gone, still there is Captains, Garden, Natalies, Uno Momento etc. All in all I thought the place looked great this year.
Wilson
Hi Wilson.Yes gima had just been built when we there last.
yeah loulou basils has closed - hasn't relocated yet but he hinted that next year he should have something sorted but didn't elaborate any further!
hope someone can tell me thank you

I'm off on Monday too, from Stansted flying at 1400 (my first daytime flight to Turkey!). Am staying at Xanthos apartments which aren't too far from where you will be.
Hope you have a great time - there are loads of restaurants to choose from in the close vicinity of Armar (Robin Hood, September Bar, Havana Restaurant, Mascot, Rainbow - to name but a few), then there are the clubs down by the beach. You'll be spoilt for choice.
Post a report on your return - I'll look forward to reading it.
Only 3 more sleeps
lucky you |Chris. Last 3 times I've bben to Turkey it's been on a night flight and you just can't beat flying into Dalaman during the day when the plane sweeps over the blue lagoon at Olu Deniz. I always find it breathtaking and a taste of what's to come in gorgeous Turkey. I'm gong out next Friday with a friend but unfortunately it's a night flight again
R the bars and discos child friendly or have i got to retire to my room at 9ish because its too loud or not suitable.
Im a turkey virgin and would appreciate as much info as possible, as we fly out in 3weeks n im having some first time nerves.
It depends where you are staying but if you are close enough Bar Havana is great for the kids, my 3 boys and 18 month old neice had a great time here. There is a big kids play area, its caged with only one way in and out.
Dont be nervous, the Turkish love children and babies and love to amuse them, my neice was never in her room for 9pm, she loved all the attention and the dancing in the bars and restaurants. quite often she "collapsed" in her buggy at around 11pm from all the excitment
Chris
you are making me jealous
i stayed at the Xanthos in june and had a great time. Have fun.
Loulou
Now if i remember correctly these aparts are near the bottom of the road (towards the beach) from Xanthos aparts. Some one please say if im wrong.
If you walk to the very top of the street (away from the beach) straight over the road is Bar Havana.
Also on the same road as aparts is Family bar, does lovely food.
Loulou
Thanks Loulou. So Xanthos aparts are OK then? It'll be the first time I've stayed there, usually it's Club Atrium, but couldn't get in there. Xanthos are in the area which I know so I'm sure I'll see all my old friends when I arrive.
You are less than a 2 min walk from atrium
Do the turkish night its a scream
Lots of nationalties stay there and for some reason did not go around the pool much so there was always plenty of sunbeds.
Loulou
Does anyone know the were abouts cousins2 restaurant is in marmaris..Tracy
Tracy, so many restaurants have closed down over the year. I went to cousins restaurant near Caria hospital last year but have no idea if this was cousins 1 or 2
