I too do it, and always try to find where my aircraft is before my flight. For example, I managed to find out that my aircraft to Tenerife was in Reus before, so on the day, I checked the flight was expected from Reus on time.
Also, if I have access to the internet in my destination (albeit on my phone), I always check to see if the aircraft being used for my return flight has departed from Gatwick on time. Similarly in Tenerife, we were told on the coach that there was going to be a one hour delay, so I checked my phone two hours after it was due to leave Gatwick and found that it hadn't even started boarding yet. I then checked every fifteen minutes until it had left. Sad maybe, but it gives me a good idea of what time I'm going to be leaving, and often more importantly, what time I'm going to get home.
How do you find out where your plane has been before it gets to your airport?
Off on my hols next week and getting very excited about it all!
The stats are taken from the time the aircraft left the ground. The departure time quoted on your tickets is the time the aircraft is due to push back from stand, not the time the aircraft leaves the runway. That's why there's a difference.
Aircraft scheduling isn't publically available but If you post your flight details on the relevant airline thread, I'll see what I can dig out for you.
Darren
No need to trouble yourself with the scheduling info - I was only going to look if it was easy to hand. I guess the plane will take off when it takes off!!
Thanks again!
No you are not sad at all, I do it every week, departure and arrival, got a shock the other week though as the arrival flight was cancelled!!!!! oh but to be stuck in the Maldives lol
boyfr and his mum went to have a look at the plane the other wednesday but were late. they should of rang me first I would of been able to them lol.
your not all sick,
I do it too !! Hay this is like a meeting of the AA !!
I fly out of gatwick to turkey on the 7th july, I have been checking the departure site of gatwick and the website for DALAMAN airport in turkey and it tell me when its due and also when it is about to depart for the return leg to gatwick.
try checking your airport overseas to see if you can find out more info on your flight, Just a thought everyone !!
5 weeks and counting
I do it too, although last year an Excel flight to Dalaman caught me off guard. It had ran perfectly for about 4 weeks then on the day my mum was flying in it decided to have a 12 hour delay.
Nope, never done it. I'm not saying that people who do are sad though as judging by the response it looks like I'm in the minority here ! I just don't see the point, that's all, as Loulou's post above just proves.
Yep been watching my flight on manchester apirport website every sunday morning to see if its delayed, do it every year..im mad
I normally check the inbound flight for my outbound on the day I'm travelling, but not before that as anything can happen on the day and you can't go off previous flights.
Sorry but I do it, Check flights that is
Me too! Started checking my flight for Menorca start of May (go in August), it hasn't been on time yet
It looks like we are all truly anoraks.Never mind I do not care I am just fascinated by the whole business of air travel. Not so keen on the actual time in the air but the logistics of the whole thing just amaze me.
Sad sack me.
its all part of the holiday build up, i get excited from day 1.glad im not the only 1, must be an exclusive club lol
10 more sleeps to go
Wish I knew what the incoming destination for our plane was before it flys to mexico,,, So before I set off for the airport I could see if it arrival was delayed and might have a knock on effect and delay our flight ( don't think that last sentence makes any sense but I know what I mean )
knitter46,
every week up to now and today it looks like it had a 2-hour delay It's our second time with Thomson and we had a dreadful time with them last year, 4 hour delay going out, 5½ hours delay coming back, so I'm preparing myself for the worst again After last year (our first Thomson "experience") I said "never again", but this year our First Choice flight got changed to Thomson and there's not much I can do about that!
Oh well, I suppose we'll get there eventually
Been keeping an eye on our flight for the last few weeks - we go 2 weeks today. It has been late Oh well, I suppose we'll get there eventually

We had the opposite (changed from Thomson to First Choice) for our flights to Cape Verde last week, and had an equally bad experience, resulting in us spending 8 hours on an aircraft with 28" legroom (and I'm 6ft 5) - the return flight was then delayed by 17 hours as the crew ran out of hours down in CV thanks to a three-hour outbound delay.
this week's flight has a 4½ hour delay After a 2 hour delay on last week's flight and other delays in previous weeks, it's not looking good... in fact it seems to be getting worse each week. I wonder how long our delay will be next week when it's our turn to be there...
Well, one week to go now and it seems Post a Reply
