All the trips were superb except those offered by Jewel in the Crown. There was an hitch with every one booked with them, with the SCUBA diving the rep booked it for the same day as the canoeing trip which was booked with JITC, this was sorted out and a great day was had by all. With the canoeing athough it was enjoyable it was disorganised and there was no one to meet us at Patara beach to tell us the arrangements for pick-up.
The Dalyan Farwell was sold as an relaxing way to spend your last day at a resort nearer the airport spending the afternoon on the Dalyan delta visiting the mud baths and Iztuzu beach, that part was fine. We left our hotel at 07.30 and thanks to change in departure times that the rep had not told the hotel we did not have time for a proper breakfast. We and anonther couple had checked that a carpet weavers would not be included , guess where we meet up with our rep!
The rep had told us that the hotel would be 4*, it was an ungraded dump, it was dirty, our rooms were not ready, we asked for 3 rooms there for ourselves and 4 adult sons, we got 1 double and 4 beded room with a double bed and two singles,(sons not happy).
Food was terrible first at a resturant for lunch then at the hotel which had no kitchen and brought it in from outside, the first time we could not eat a meze it was awful and the hot main meal was cold rice and chips a small rissole and 2 chicken wing tips that would have made a small childs meal. We found a nice local bar in Dalyan and had a cheap tasty meal there with a freindly service and a free fruit platter.
When it was time for our pick-up and transfer to the Airport there was no rep and we were dropped and left to fend for ourselves. Our flight had been delayed by two hours and there was no check-in available for our flight. No one seemed to know what was going on and we were hanging around in a crowded check-in area for an hour before we could start check-in which was a bit chaotic due to the restricted space.(I notice that a new airport is advertised for 2006, will this include a larger check-in area)
All in all it would have been more relaxing to stay at our lovely hotel and have the slightly longer transfer.
Next yearwe will DIY our trips and stay at Lizo until the last moment.
Jewel in the Crown travllers "don't" do the Dalyan tranfer.
Thompson were offering somthing very simalar i wonder if it is the same one?
Yhomsons was worth the money. Hotel was a 5 star, brand new and quite luxurious. The food was brilliant, It really was a good day. I would recommend it with Thomson.
All the excursions that the reps offer in the hotels are way over the price that you can get the same trips for locally.
Have you not thought that doing this dalayn transfer you are in effect paying for two hotels that you are not actually using? For a family it would be cheaper to pay for a late checkout of the hotel you are in and doing the dalayn trip in your holiday, booking independantly of the reps
one of the reasons we went on this trip was that it was described to us by the rep as a 4* hotel and facilities to relax in prior to flight, it was nothing of the kind, it was a swear hole
It was definately not a relaxing last day when combined with being dumped at Dalaman Airport unable to check in, with no info and no rep
Next year we are going DIY all the way and staying at Lizo until the last moment, bliss
Jewel have lost our custom for Turkey and trip to Goa we were considering

The lunch at the restaurant on the river was excellent, the whole day was good and indeed very lazy. We were kept updated at all times as to what was happening by the rep - dinner was served at 8pm - was very good - they could maybe have supplied some more as there wasn't that much, but some people had over filled their plates being greedy and not thinking of others.
We were told we would be picked up at 315am and at 245am the phone rang with our wake up call. The rep was on the coach and pointed us in the right direction at the airport.
I can't remember the name of the hotel that we stayed in. There were a lot of us doing the transfer so some people stayed in a smaller hotel which did look pretty basic. Obviously we drew the better hotel.
A girl I sit next to at work also did the last day transfer with Jewel and even though she stayed in a different hotel to me she said her hotel was really nice too!
It looks as though you drew a very short straw ELJhem
Our transfer hotel was definately not 4*, the manager there said himself it was ungraded, the food was very poor many people did not eat it and no we do not go in for large portions.
As if that was not enough the staff and the rep couldn't seem to care less this was definately not the trip our resort rep sold to us.
It unfortunately marred the end of an otherwise brillant holiday

I wasn't insinuating that you ate large portions, was just commenting that the only drawback with our evening meal was that there didn't seem to be enough as some people were being greedy.
I know various people who have done this tour with Jewel and have been enjoyed it and their accomodation was fine.
I've also just remembered though that our Rep Sirdar (in Olu Deniz) told us at our welcome meeting at the last day transfer hotel would be "very basic but clean", which is why we were really pleased when we got to our hotel and saw how nice it was. We were expecting a hovel as we stayed in 2 star accomodation in Olu Deniz and that was really basic!
I would definitely complain if I were you - why would one rep say the hotel was 4 star and another say it was very basic if they work for the same company. One of them was telling porkies! If you do choose to complain - you can quote that.
Hotel in Dalyan was a dump , one single bed + 1 put u up. food terrible (ate out instead)
complete waste of money, never again.
This was the worst rip off I have ever had on holidays.
the only reason we did this was because we had a late flight and didn't want to be hanging around, next time will book late room and stay in resort
glad to hear that it was good for others though (no I'm not jealous,,,,,much!)

It was the way to spend our last day.
We got picked upfrom our hotel at 9.00pm after a great day at the mud baths and turtle beach and into airport 9.45pm, checked in and flight took off 23.15pm couldn't have asked for anything better.
Cheers
Carol

unfortunately the thing about dalaman is that its a military airport and reps are not allowed into the building as everything has to be scanned so it does seem that you have been "dumped"
but its an easy process - you don't need your rep when you check in to go on holiday so you shouldn;t really need them at the other end (no offence to anybody!)
I agree check-in is usualy straight forward, this time it was not and no one could give us any info, 200 passengers standing in the middle of Dlamans tiny check-in area with no where togo and no idea whats going on
Yes it is true although I did not find it as bad as what people were making it out to be, has anyone been to Reuse in Spain on a Thursday now that is bad!
Because we had a late flight home we decided to try the Dalyan transfer tour.My advice to anyone whos thinking about is DONT BOTHER.It costs £32 each and is not worth the money. They take you to a carpet factory and say there is no pressure about buying one.Well after the presentation you are invaded buy loads of salesmen who try to get you to buy a carpet and they are not cheap. After that they take you to the mudbaths and then for dinner which was horrible. The only good part is when you go to turtle beach which is nice. After that they take you to a hotel in Dalyan called the Antic where you are given a courtesy room to change and dinner, which was also horrible. We went into Dalyan rather than wait at the hotel for our transport to the airport as hotel was extortionate for drink.I wont be doing it again,i would rather wait at hotel like we have done before.I suppose if you dont try something out then you would never Know what it is like
We ended up doing more traveling than if we had stayed at our hotel and it cost us more!
Food was the pits, we didn't hang around long enough to discover the bar prices(they had been bad at lunch) escaped into Dalyan for a meal at a riverside cafe, very freindly, good prices and a complimentary fruit platter.
Please don't bother with the transfer, it isn't worth it!
we fly home about 10.30pm and we noticed the Dalyan nights trip on the last day, but is there a time restriction i.e. only if you flying early hours?
don't really know much about it so any info would be fantastulous
My advice would be, DON'T DO IT.
My advice would be, DON'T DO IT.
that would be mine too, we did it a few years ago, never again, waste of money and time. The hotel was a complete dump, we had kept the mozzies at bay for 2 weeks during our stay in Marmaris only to be eaten alive on the transfer trip We hated every momment of it
