thanks shazzer x[/i][/b][/u]
As for white wine spritzers. u are right in thinkin a decent white wine is expensive.
Im a red wine girl........ but in Goa i drink bacardi breezers or vodka and coke `as its more easily available in the shacks.
From our experience eating out your as likely if not more likely to get delhi beli eatin in hotel as shacks........... we love shacks during day and go to nice restraunts in evenings......... hope weve helped XX
2nd - the beer does taste different from the uk,it is beer and it tastes of beer - no problem with it.
3rd - yes they sell white wine and yes they sell soda water to go with it
4th - there are local wines at a decent price and there are wines that are all imported that are expensive (to Goan prices) but will not break the bank.
Have you had information from people who have been who you know or people from this site ?
Can i also ask,you say ''it's your 1st visit to Goa in November'' have you booked your holiday without any checking ?
Who have you booked with and what made you book ?
Edit
Spike- I really don't think we need names mentioned!

here for discussion on wine.
and for beer but just put kingfishers into the search function and you will find several more posts!
Don't worry about asking questions! If nobody asked any questions we wouldn't be here! I'm sure you researched more than enough before booking-(its just that some people think drink is a major thing to check out before deciding where to go! )

All lager has glycerine in it in Indioa to act as a preservative, so it has a slight bitter after taste. doesnt stop me though!!
Try Port Wine...40Rupees a bottle (After Eight and Wedding Bells are the best brands)....
Daft question I know but apart from coke , what would be the best mixer to go with it???
Hi shirleyv I think bubbley ......honey bee is sweet and champers a bit bitter mix the two together and bingo it would be a bitter sweet experience
Vodka.
Limca goes very well with Honey Bee
hi.. ..shazzerallen...went to goa four years ago had a great time..for the drinks kingfisher is good ask for the export type.very cheap..and good .also try there own whisky/gin it,s different but o.k as for the beach shacks the food is good ask for the lobster very.very fresh and very.very.very cheap .....regards ..johndoe ...p.s try the tea rooms they are a eye-opener
have any of you beer drinkers ever heard of Belo beer or a name something like that .........whats it like
If you don't eat in the shacks, you'll be missing a big part of a Goan holiday. I don't know how they do it, but they knock out some fantastic food with very limited resources.
I'm sure one of our British white coated Environmental Health Officers with their clipboard would slap a prohibition notice on nearly every one of them but hey, you're in India. The food is fresh and cooked straight away and is usually delicious. I've had the odd Delhi Belly over the years but I don't believe any of it was attributable to a shack. Hotels are riskier because of buffets and incorrect overnight storage of food.
They dont seem to sell it much now........ first time we went to Goa it was more popular than Kingfisher, but very gassy with loads of glycerine.............yuk....cheaper than kingfisher.
its just larger, i tihnk its goan, but it isnt sold everywhere!
dont say hello say belo!
dont be a silly felo drink belo!
I know everthing is for next to nothing in goa but i know how much kingfisher is so how much is this belo beer then also is it in large or small bottles
same size as kingfisher and 20 ruppees or something like that cheaper, or at least that was the case in 99!!
yeah belo is hte same price as kingfisher! im sure you can only get it in large bottles at the shacks, also cans form elephant shop!
Lets face it, after stuffin yerself for two bob with the best food anywhere in the world, who can drink lager all night? (This coming from a confirmed lager drinker)
Try all the lagers before you eat, Kings, Kingfisher, Belo, Elephant etc.
Then..........be adventurous, try the local spirits & liqueurs, most of them are comparable with UK brands at that time of night, espescially with a mixer. You'll be surprised how much you've got left in your wallet the next day.
I can definitely recommend the Goan coffee liqueur, if you like Tia Maria, order one of these with ice........mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Kings lager doesnt contain glycerine !!!!!
Yes it does. I used to think the same, but was later informed that ALL beer in India contains it unless imported.
