We drove last summer from Barcelona airport to St Cyprien Plage which is just a couple of miles from Argeles. The drive takes about 3 hours and is very straightforward. It's motorway almost all of the way and even though we landed around 3.45pm so we were driving in the rush hour by the time we collected our car the roads were fairly quiet all the way. We drove back down to Barcelona on the first Saturday of the European school holidays and that wasn't particularly busy either.

We drove to La Sirene with Eurocamp a couple of years back. We made the journey over into spain a few times. If memory serves me correctly, it takes about 2 hours to get to Barcelona but if you want to cross Barcelona to Salou as we did then the diagonal road across barcelona added another hour+. Having said that Salou was well worth the trip.
