Really don't get Rising Waves recommendations.
10 of us went one night and can say that 4 were satisfied - 2 said they were still hungry and they are far from big eaters - and 4 said they would never go again.
Fish pie was tasteless and a very small portion - home made fish fingers - all 4 of them almost cremated with a few chips and a bit of salad.
2 of the party had to wait for veg - they finished main before it came and another 2 were eating their sweet walking towards the taxi.

This could have been a good result for them as we all stay for the season but none of us ever went again.
Maybe a busy night as it was full but
Just our opinion. :)

Best Fish and Chips - Tony's Place in Candolim - on the right turn off towards the beach opposite the turn off to Panjim - beats Patricks into a cocked hat - as we say in Yorkshire.

I love thread's like this. :tup

It's so cold at work today I've just made a cuppa-soup to warm up :rofl

Our two favourites last year were;

Kim Faa's - Baga - best chinese food I have had anywhere and excellent service

The Phoenix Bar - Baga - run by an English couple so a great alternative if you fancy good english food for a change.

We are staying in Candolim next Feb so really looking forward to exploring all the recommendations for there :cheers

Spice Garden in Candolim. The surf & turf is excellent and the two girls there are really friendly.
Had a few nice Tikka's in Bending Bamboo and also a good place for a late night drink. (perhaps there should be a thread for best drinking holes?)
Ganesh shack for calamari. Had some most days for lunch.

Just had me tea but feel hungry again!!!!

:cheers

If you like hot and spicy cheap and no frills, Green Goa in Arpora. Like a beach shack on a main Road!!

If your all curried/spiced out it may be worth trying "Rovers Return" its a beach shack. I think it would be classed as Calangute beach as in the past we have met up at Molly Malones before making our way to the shack. They do a superb Suckling Pig with all the trimmings and a home made apple pie for dessert and to be fair it is very good, also its lovely and cool on those hot sticky nights and its nice to hear the sound of the lapping waves whilst having a few Ice Cold beers..... :tongue .....cheers Keith

Hi Chilly... :cheers
you mention a small cafe type snack place that opens at night near Calangute market.....which market would that be...the fish-market or the Saturday morning one near the Post Office ?
I love these little place that serve "real food"....can you let me know more....Cheers Neil :cheers

Hi Neil its the fish market one, and believe the food is lush and amazing value!! we got Newbutt1 hooked on this place too last season!! not to be missed!! :tup but very local!! just to warn some people who may not like no frills

With just over 4 weeks before we go, anyone got anywhere else to add before I get my list going ! We are staying in Candolim for the first time for the second half of the holiday so any pointers around there would be appreciated ! Thanks Dave

The HT meet :tup at the Carvery on Wednesday evening should be number one on your list, find out what is good or not so good this season but as you arrive early November some places will only just be opening, so we will only just be getting around to trying them out again :cheers

If you want to get directions or put your name down have a look here but Chilly :que is globe trotting again so might not get a quick reply
